Consultant Program Expert
One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that has been working in the area of Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) since 2011. OHW works with local communities and local health service providers to develop a culturally appropriate Network of Safety around mothers and infants, by raising awareness, teaching good practices, and distributing essential equipment to ensure that mothers and infants survive delivery and the first months of life.

Position: Consultant Program Expert
The Consultant Program Expert will provide supportive supervision for MNH Skills & Simulation-Based Activities in line with government priorities and organizational strategy. The role involves significant field engagement to support training facilitation, capacity building, monitoring, and collaboration with government stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Act as a technical resource for simulation-based training and MNH program implementation.
- Support planning and roll-out of simulation-based activities at different health facilities.
- Facilitate modular training on essential maternal and newborn care, including labor and birth, postpartum hemorrhage prevention/management, essential newborn care, and newborn resuscitation.
- Ensure all interventions align with national standards, guidelines, and protocols.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the stakeholders.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to simulation labs and training sites to ensure program quality.
- Prepare reports, case studies, and success stories for dissemination and donor reporting.
- Perform all other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Assignment Period
- September 2025 to December 2025, with the potential for extension based on performance and funding availability
- 40 hours per week
Terms of payment
- Consultant will receive a payment as outlined in the consultancy contract, by deducting 15% tax as per the prevailing Government rule. OHW will be responsible for the payment of taxes.
- OHW shall provide travel & accommodation arrangements for field travel as per OHW norms.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery, Nursing, Medicine (MBBS)
- Preferred master’s degree in Public Health, Community Medicine
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in maternal and newborn care.
- At least 2 years of experience in supportive supervision, clinical mentorship, or on-the-job coaching.
- Prior experience in skills-based training and simulation-based education (e.g., using mannequins or simulation labs) will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge and application of relevant maternal and newborn competencies including Essential Newborn Care (ENC), Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC), Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) etc
- Proficiency in clinical guidelines and protocols for maternal and newborn care.
- Experience using simulation equipment (e.g., MamaNatalie, NeoNatalie, MamaBirthie).
- Prior training in simulation-based education, EuSim or SimBegin will be preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills with the ability to engage with frontline healthcare workers
- Proficient in MS Office
- Knowledge of health systems and facility-level challenges in maternal and newborn health in the context of the country/provinces.
Other requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote and rural health centers
