Communications Officer

1. Background: FAITH is a women-led, beneficiary-centered national organization working for the rights, health, and dignity of structurally marginalized women and girls. FAITH works on HIV, SRHR, mental health, human rights, gender-based violence, economic empowerment, and climate resilience. Strategic communications have become essential to strengthen visibility, influence public narratives, engage policymakers, and ensure donor-compliant communication.
2. Position Purpose: The Communications Officer will lead FAITH’s internal and external communications, support advocacy and public campaigns, manage the organization’s brand, document program achievements, and ensure strategic visibility across all platforms. This position ensures that FAITH’s voice is accurate, rights-based, inclusive, and sensitive to the realities of marginalized women and girls.
3. Key Responsibilities
3.1 Communication Strategy and Branding
• Develop and implement FAITH’s annual communication strategy and content calendar.
• Maintain consistent branding across materials and platforms.
• Maintain an updated repository of templates (reports, factsheets, policy briefs, banners).
• Strengthen FAITH’s national visibility and credibility as a rights-based, women-led NGO.
3.2 Content Creation and Storytelling
• Develop clear and engaging content such as stories, updates, briefs, advocacy messages, and social media posts.
• Prepare messages for events and advocacy meetings.
• Contribute to annual reports and donor communication materials.
3.3 Digital media, Documentation and Knowledge Management
• Manage FAITH’s website and social media channels, including regular posting.
• Plan and execute online campaigns.
• Work with the MEL team to capture evidence, results, and impact stories.
• Maintain a well-organized archive of communication materials and media coverage.
• Upload and manage digital assets such as advocacy videos.
• Monitor engagement and produce analytics reports.
3.4 Advocacy, Media, and Partnerships
• Support production of short films, interviews, and advocacy videos in collaboration with external creatives.
• Work with the program team to support rights-based narrative change campaigns on sex workers' rights, policy/law reform, mental health, and SRHR.
• Translate project findings into simple communication tools (summaries, infographics, briefs).
• Prepare materials for meetings with government, NHRC, police, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor and record positive or negative media reporting related to FAITH’s beneficiaries.
• Maintain relationships with influencers and media houses and support responsible media representation.
3.5 Events, Platforms, and Internal Support
• Support communication needs during trainings, workshops, campaigns, and public events.
• Oversee design and branding for event materials (banners, backdrops, certificates).
• Prepare content for the launch and promotion of FAITH’s digital/AI platforms.
• Assist staff and field partners with basic communication and documentation needs.
• Ensure all communication follows FAITH’s safeguarding, ethical, and confidentiality standards.
4. Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, media studies, development studies, or related field (Master’s preferred but not mandatory).
Experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in communications, media, advocacy, or development work.
• Experience working with women’s rights, SRHR, HIV, mental health, human rights, or social justice organizations is strongly preferred.
• Experience producing content for sensitive populations and political/advocacy contexts.
• Experience managing social media and digital campaigns.
• Experience with photography, videography, or editing tools is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong writing and storytelling skills in English and Nepali.
• Ability to produce high-quality content with minimal supervision.
• Creativity in developing visuals, infographics, and campaign concepts.
• Good understanding of gender, human rights, social inclusion, sex workers’ rights, and stigma issues.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
• Basic design skills (Canva or Adobe) preferred.
• Ability to interact confidently with media, government, and community groups.
• Strong ethical judgment and sensitivity in communication.
