DEVELOP BEST PRACTICE GUIDES FOR THE MANAGEMENT, HARVESTING AND POST-HARVEST HANDLING OF HIMALAYAN MEDICINAL PLANTS AND FUNGI
ANSAB, along with TRAFFIC International, FECOFUN and other partners are implementing a UK Government’s Darwin Initiative project entitled "Scaling conservation of Himalayan plants and fungi through sustainable trade" in the Himalayan region of Nepal. This project aims to improve local livelihoods, elevate traditional knowledge, and strengthen national and regional approaches to sustainable biodiversity-based trade. At the impact level, the project will contribute to the sustainable management of Himalayan wild plants and fungi, with value chains that promote equitable trade, increase value addition, reduce poverty, and conserve species and ecologically fragile landscapes.
ANSAB seeks the services of qualified experts, consulting firms, NGOs, research institutions (hereinafter 'the consultant') to develop management, harvesting and post-harvest handling guide for selected Himalayan medicinal plants and fungi. The overall objective of this assignment is to develop species-specific guide on sustainable management, harvesting and post-harvest handling practices for the selected Himalayan medicinal plants and fungi of high conservation and economic value. Specific objectives of the consultancy service are to (i) Identify best management practices for Himalayan medicinal plants and fungi, duly integrating scientific evidence with traditional harvesting knowledge; (ii) Recommend practical and species-specific tools, methods, and harvesting protocols to ensure sustainability; and (iii) Prescribe species-specific post-harvest handling, processing, and storage, guides for each species.
Interested professionals/ institutions are requested to submit a brief proposal (including technical & financial details) outlining how you plan to achieve the objectives as stated in the TOR within the given budget limit along with an updated detailed CV of the consultant.
The technical and financial proposals must be submitted as separate documents. Applicants may submit these either (i) as two separate attachments sent via email (jobs@ansab.org.np), or (ii) in two sealed envelopes placed within a single outer envelope, and submit in-person at ANSAB Office, New Baneshwor. All submissions—both on the envelope, and in the email subject line—must clearly state: “Consultancy service for developing best practice guides for the management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.” The deadline for submission is 26th December 2025.
