About Organization

Dignity Initiative (DI), in partnership with Fastenaktion, is implementing the Sustainable Agro-Ecology & Empowerment for Dignity (SEED) Project in Dolpa, Karnali Province. DI invites applications from qualified Nepali citizens for the position of Agro-Ecology Officer.

The project aims to address caste-based discrimination by strengthening the livelihoods and resilience of marginalized Dalit communities in Dolpa District—specifically in Tripurasundari Municipality, Thulibheri Municipality, and Mudkechula Rural Municipality—through the promotion of agroecological practices and alternative livelihood opportunities. This project is designed and grounded in the educational philosophies of Paulo Freire and B. R. Ambedkar, emphasizing the core principles of Education, Empowerment and Transformation. 

Dignity Initiative is a Kathmandu-based research and advocacy organization dedicated to addressing Dalit issues through evidence-based research, strategic advocacy, and policy engagement. The organization further supports Dalit rights movement in Nepal by providing data, evidence, and policy insights to advance the rights of marginalized communities.  

Position Details

1. Title: Agro-Ecology Officer

Number of Positions: 1

Level: Mid-Level

Type: Full-Time 

Duty Station: Dolpa

Start Date: 1 April 2026

Contract and Benefits

  • Contract Duration: 9 months, including a 3-month probation period, with the possibility of extension based on project duration and performance
  • Remuneration and benefits: As per organizational policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support planning and implementation of agroecological activities, including kitchen garden promotion, multipurpose nursery management, fruit and fodder promotion etc.
  • Provide technical support to the field team, and assist in the planning and implementation of field level activities. 
  • Facilitate and participate in community-level activities in line with approved plans and budgets, including organizing and supporting regular meetings with community facilitators and relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote agroecological systems grounded in circular and solidarity economy principles, strengthening local exchange and cooperation mechanisms, while facilitating knowledge sharing, research, and innovation to enhance agroecological practices.
  • Strengthen coordination with key stakeholders, including local government, by providing technical and organizational support for stakeholder coordination, meetings, ensuring alignment among key actors.
  • Undertake regular field visits across project locations to provide on-site coaching, mentoring and ensure effective delivery of activities.
  • Ensure systematic monitoring, data collection, compilation, and reporting of project activities, and document case studies, lessons learned, and key outcomes for program development.
  • Prepare and regularly update personal work plans, and engage in continuous self-learning to strengthen agroecology knowledge and practice.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (B.Sc. Agriculture) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in agroecology, rural development, or community facilitation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of livelihood and empowerment approaches.
  • Familiarity with local farming systems, agroecological practices, and local language and culture is an advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote rural settings with diverse communities.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

2. Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer 

Number of Positions: 1

Level: Mid-Level

Duty Station: Kathmandu 

Start Date: 1 April 2026 

Contract and Benefits

  • Remuneration and benefits: As per organizational policy. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement M&E frameworks, tools, and reporting formats in consultation with the Executive Director and Admin & Finance Coordinator.
  • Manage day-to-day M&E operations, including tracking project progress, ensuring compliance, and maintaining project database. 
  • Ensure timely collection, verification, and validation of data from all project staff before entry into the donor’s Common Indicator system, maintaining accuracy and reliability of reporting.
  • Conduct frequent field visits to carry out monitoring surveys, document learning, and proactively identify and flag issues and areas for improvement, inclduing documentation of lessons learned, success stories, and case studies to inform program improvement.
  • Coordinate with partners, stakeholders, and field teams for data collection, information sharing, and program alignment, including organizing relevant meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Facilitate the planning and design of project review meetings, regularly present project status, and ensure that target beneficiaries are reached and progress is aligned with agreed indicators and targets
  • Support budget monitoring and prepare program materials and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management or a related field with at least 3-5 years of professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, or program management.
  • Strong knowledge of M&E frameworks, methodologies, and indicators, including experience with M&E tools and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in data management, analysis, and evidence-based reporting to support decision-making. 
  • Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and budget monitoring processes.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
