Tarangini Foundation is a feminist organization committed to advancing the rights of marginalized women, agricultural and domestic workers, and migrant workers through advocacy, empowerment,  and policy reform.  We work to challenge gender inequities and foster systemic change to create a just and equitable society.

We are seeking a Advocacy and Legal Officer with experience in the non-governmental sector to provide legal expertise, support advocacy efforts, and ensure compliance with national and international legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and guidance to the organization, ensuring alignment with Nepal’s legal framework and international human rights standards.
• Draft, review, and revise legal documents, contracts, MOUs, and agreements to support the
• organization’s operations and partnerships.
• Ensure organizational compliance with national laws, policies, and regulations related to NGOs, labor rights, and gender justice.
• Collaborate with program teams to develop and implement advocacy strategies for policy reform, focusing on women’s rights, labor laws, and anti-discrimination policies.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support program initiatives, including documenting legal barriers faced by marginalized groups.
• Train staff and community leaders on relevant legal rights, procedures, and advocacy approaches.
• Represent the organization in legal forums, negotiations, and discussions with stakeholders, including government bodies and partner organizations.
• Monitor and report on changes in legal and policy landscapes affecting the organization’s focus areas.
• Support the preparation of organizational policies and ensure alignment with feminist principles and frameworks.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) required; a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Legal Officer or in a similar role, with significant experience in non-governmental or human rights organizations.
• Expertise in labor rights, gender justice, and advocacy for marginalized communities.
• Strong understanding of Nepal’s legal system, particularly laws relating to labor, human rights, and gender equity.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation, legal compliance, and policy advocacy.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to feminist and rights-based approaches.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
