Nepal Youth Foundation Nepal (NYF Nepal) is a non-profit organization working for the rights and welfare of underprivileged children and youth of Nepal through education, health, and other humanitarian projects. 

Vocational Education and Career Counseling (VECC) is one of the flagship programs of NYF Nepal. VECC provides valuable opportunities for Nepalese youths to acquire practical skills and knowledge essential for their career development. Through our own Olgapuri Vocational School (OVS), we deliver comprehensive training in carpentry, welding, electrical, plumbing, and industrial tailoring. Furthermore, we extend opportunities for underprivileged youth to enroll in diverse skill-based training programs tailored to meet market demands and program specifications.

To add to the existing team of professionals, we are looking for a competent candidate as per the following details:

Required position: VECC Officer

Required Number: 1

Duty Station: Olgapuri Village, Chunikhel, Lalitpur (This position requires frequent field travel to villages and various regions of Nepal as per program priority.)

Purpose of the Position: 

Carry out intake activities and orientations in local communities to enroll students in the training programs, keep track of trainee progress, and facilitate job placements for the graduated trainees. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Orientation, Intake, and Selection of trainees:

  • Provide orientations on vocational education and conduct career counseling activities efficiently at various locations/communities in Nepal. Connect with various stakeholders (government and non-government organizations) to identify and engage the most deserving youths/prospective trainees for enrollment in the training programs.
  • Prepare a list of trainees, conduct interviews, and, in consultation with the supervisor, select the most deserving candidates to enroll in the training programs.

B. Facilitation & Support - During the Training 

  • Facilitate the supervisor and other colleagues in conducting sessions on soft skills for better career prospects, life skills (e.g., Communication, entrepreneurship, motivation, information technology, job search skills); also learn/be prepared to conduct one or more of such sessions independently as well. 
  • Oversee the well-being of trainees during the training program (learning process and environment, health & hygiene standards in hostels are met or not). In consultation with the supervisor, provide feedback where necessary.

C. On the Job Training (OJT) & Placement – Closing the Training:

  • Be the lead contact for connecting trainees with prospect employers though the (OJT) - which happens towards closure of training and just before they graduate. Besides, continue to establish and maintain relations/networking with stakeholders to increase the job placement/self-employment rates of graduates.

D. Documentation & Reporting works:

  • Develop/collect case studies, maintain trainee data and necessary documents to aid in periodic report preparation. Generate reports as requested by supervisors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

E. Promotional & overall support

  • Plan and execute various promotional activities through direct and indirect approaches, utilizing online and offline mediums. (Capture the visual records of in-house training sessions, workshops, and other relevant activities for promotional and documentation purpose.)
  • Assist in coordinating and managing events such as orientations, graduation ceremonies, and other programs to ensure smooth execution and memorable experiences.

F. Market Awareness & Training Alignment

  • Research and analyze labor market dynamics to understand industry demand and opportunities for both job employment or self-employment. Recommend new or modification in existing training programs to align with evolving labor market conditions. 

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree (preferably Master’s degree) in disciplines like Management or Social Sciences and preferably 2 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge: Possess extensive expertise in labor market dynamics, the country's demand for skilled human resources development, youth mobilization, community social and cultural aspects.

Skills and Abilities: Must possess sound intra-personal and inter-personal communication skills with the ability to work in diverse communities and with people; should be self-motivated, flexible, and goal-oriented. Able to work on the computer (Windows-based applications and use social media platforms).

Travel Requirement: Frequent field visits to villages and various parts of Nepal as per program priority.

Language: Bilingual, Nepali and English.

Others: Driving license for a two-wheeler (motorbike)
