VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Simulation Society of Nepal (SSN) was established in 2019 with a commitment to implementing simulation-based programs to improve the skills and competencies of healthcare professionals and, ultimately, the quality of care in Nepal. SSN has been implementing simulation-based programs in collaboration with partners such as UNICEF and GIZ, with support from Laerdal Global Health and under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Population. By providing a platform for networking, collaboration, and learning among simulation professionals in Nepal, SSN aims to create a positive impact on healthcare.
Under the guidance of the Family Welfare Division, UNICEF Nepal, in collaboration with the Simulation Society of Nepal and with technical support from Laerdal Global Health, is implementing the project "Strengthening Competencies and Quality Improvement of Maternal and Newborn Care" in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Provinces. The project involves collaboration with government stakeholders, experts, healthcare institutions, professional associations, and external development partners.
Accordingly, the Simulation Society of Nepal invites applications for the following positions:
1. Research assistant
Number of candidates required: 2
Project sites: Ten health facilities in Lumbini Province and Sudurpashchim Province
Duration: Short-term assignment for the midline assessment (two to three weeks)
Type: Temporary, part-time position
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-field training.
- Conduct data collection using structured questionnaires, in-depth interviews, key informant interviews, secondary data abstraction tools, and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations.
- Enter collected quantitative and qualitative data into paper-based or digital data collection tools. Transcribe and translate qualitative data as required.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data collected.
- Follow ethical guidelines and data protection requirements.
- Work with the research lead, supervisors, and project managers to align goals, methodologies, and assessment implementation.
Professional and Educational Requirements
The applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, midwifery, public health, medicine, or related field.
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in data collection, preferably within a consultancy, research, or development-focused organization.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data collection, cleaning, and entry methods is necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conduct in-depth and key informant interviews and document findings clearly.
- Knowledge of maternal and newborn health, skills assessment, and quality improvement initiatives will be an asset.
- Proficiency in research tools and software such as Excel, SPSS, and NVivo will be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment.
2. Photography and Videography Consultant
No. of candidates required: 1
Location: Kathmandu, with travel to Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Provinces for shoots
Duration: One year (with the possibility of extension)
Eligibility: Individual consultant
Type: Part-time
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant shall perform the following services:
- Conduct photography and videography at project sites in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim Provinces.
- Provide high-quality photographs and raw video footage from all designated project sites.
- Deliver a final selected set of edited photographs.
- Accurately transcribe and translate audio into Romanized Nepali script, include music, audio mixing in coordination with experts and project team members, as needed.
- Create synchronized, readable subtitles aligned with the speech and formatted according to appropriate visual design standards.
- Produce final edited video(s) in accordance with organizational requirements.
Professional and Educational Requirements
The consultant should have:
- Experience in producing documentary-style visual content for development or healthcare projects will be an advantage.
- Access to professional cameras, audio, lighting, and editing equipment/software.
- Strong post-production editing capability.
- Individual consultants are encouraged to apply.

3. Consultant: communications and documentation

Location: Kathmandu
Duration: One year (with the possibility of extension)
Eligibility: Individual consultant
Type: Part-time
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain communication materials including websites and web applications.
- Handle social media of the organization.
- Write clean, efficient code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages.
- Design and implement website layouts, structures, and user interfaces.
- Ensure websites are responsive and function across different devices and browsers.
- Update website content and features as required.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and fix technical issues and bugs.
- Maintain and manage content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Ensure website performance, speed, and overall optimization.
- Implement basic website security measures and perform regular updates.
- Conduct regular backups to prevent data loss.
Professional and Educational Requirements
The consultant should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).
- Experience with content management systems, especially WordPress or similar platforms.
- A basic understanding of back-end development and databases.
- Experience in website hosting, domain management, and server maintenance.
- Knowledge of website security practices and data backup procedures.
- Experience in responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and website performance optimization.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely solutions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
