Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN)

Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) is a Nepalese non-governmental development organization working mainly in the areas of community development, livelihood, food and nutrition security, education, health and good governance. The organization equally promotes human rights and social justice, having strategic focus on protecting and promoting economic, social and cultural rights and right to development in Nepal. RRN also works extensively on Agriculture/Livelihoods, Food and Nutrition Security, Education, Health, WASH, Biodiversity Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Disaster Management and Climate Change adaptation. Its major interventions are directed towards improving the lives and livelihoods of poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in rural areas and equally engaged in policy advocacy at local, provincial, federal, regional and international levels through various networks such as Children As Zone of Peace (CZOP), Alliance Against Trafficking in Women and Children in Nepal (AATWIN), Right to Food Network (RtFN), Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition Nepal (CSANN), Disaster Preparedness (DP Net), Human Right Treaty Monitoring Coordination Center (HRTMCC) for Economic Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) at National, along with South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradition (SAAPE) at Reginal and LDC Watch at International level.

RRN has been granted the Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 1997. It is also accredited to the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).

Currently, RRN is looking for competent candidates to fulfill the following positions based on annual fixed term contract and annual renewal based on performance evaluation and track record for the project titled " Food and nutrition security and resilient livelihoods with focus on earthquake affected families through civil society strengthening (SUSTAIN) Project” funded by Welthungerhilfe /BMZ and is being implemented jointly by RRN,  MIC Nepal and FTG Nepal in Barekot rural municipality of Jajarkot and Aathbiskot municipality of West Rukum district, Nepal. The vacancy announcement for the positions here in this notice is for RRN only. 

1. Position: Project Coordinator, Field Office-1

Main Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator is responsible for leading project in the field in close coordination with  project team and municipal/ward-level stakeholders. The position ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and field-level supervision of the project. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead overall project activities with the project team and in coordination with local governments (municipalities/wards) at the field level.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and comprehensive reports to the RRN Head Office as per the project and organizational requirements.
  • Supervise and monitor all field-level staff to ensure that project activities are completed within the planned schedule and quality standards.
  • Facilitate and mobilize community groups such as LANN+ groups, Adolescent/Youth Groups, Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) farmer groups, entrepreneurs and other relevant group and networks at municipal levels.
  • Lead coordination with local organizations, partners, CBOs, and other stakeholders for effective project implementation.
  • Support social mobilization, policy lobbying, and advocacy initiatives in alignment with project goals.
  • Participate in LPAC meetings, SWC evaluations, and represent the project at various coordination forums.
  • Ensure strong collaboration with local governments, line agencies, and development actors to generate synergies and achieve planned results.

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, or other relevant disciplines with more than 7 years of experience working as a Project Coordinator in rural and community development sectors of Nepal. (Master’s degree preferred.)
  • Demonstrated experience in similar projects related to Agriculture, Food Security, Nutrition, integrated community development, and social/community mobilization.
  • Proven skills in team management, team building, and outcome-oriented community engagement.
  • Strong understanding of food and nutrition governance at local and provincial levels.
  • Extensive experience with participatory planning processes (seven-step planning) of local government, SIFS, PLA/LANN+ tools, and policy advocacy.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating trainings, workshops, and capacity-building activities for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent command of Nepali and English languages with strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office packages.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, coordination, collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Keen interest and commitment to policy lobbying and advocacy at local and provincial levels.
  • Valid driving license with practical driving skills.

2. Position: MEAL/GESI Officer, Field Office-1

Main Responsibilities

The position will be responsible for providing technical backstopping to on-farm and off-farm enterprise development, policy advocacy for climate-resilient and nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and GESI integration. The incumbent will oversee overall monitoring, evaluation, evidence-based knowledge management, and accountability tasks, including adherence to Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).

He/she will support the Project Coordinator in organizing various trainings, preparing MEAL/GESI reports, conducting data analysis, and coordinating with municipalities on food and nutrition-related issues.

Qualifications & Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, rural development, social work, GESI, or other relevant disciplines, with more than five years of experience working as a MEAL/GESI Officer or in related fields in rural areas and districts of Nepal-especially in agriculture, food and nutrition, and community development sectors.
  • Knowledge and practical skills in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) tools.
  • Ability to develop MEAL frameworks, conduct data and situation analysis, synthesize information, and use insights to improve implementation and coordination at the local level.
  • Knowledge and skills in PLA LANN+ and SIFS approaches.
  • Good understanding of food and nutrition governance at local and provincial levels.
  • Experience working with teams, team building, and outcome-oriented community engagement to foster synergy and collaboration with local stakeholders and development actors.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali languages, with good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and general software).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

3. Position: Admin/Finance Officer, Field Office-1

Main Responsibilities: The Admin/Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring effective financial management and smooth administrative operations at both the field office and community levels. The position ensures professional accounting practices, timely financial reporting, proper documentation, and support during audits of project accounts. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate strong knowledge and hands-on experience in accounting, finance, administration, and procurement.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in accounts, finance, and administration within I/NGOs.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of administrative functions, procurement procedures, and management of goods and services.
  • Familiarity with project financing, budgeting, planning, and regular budget utilization tracking.
  • Ability to prepare periodic financial reports and develop specific financial reports as required.
  • Good knowledge of the Income Tax Act, rules, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of auditing processes and relevant Nepalese accounting and auditing standards.
  • Clear understanding of compliance requirements and internal control systems.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, preferably FAMAS, with hands-on operating experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to ride a motorbike with a valid driving license.

4. Position: Sub-Engineer, Field Office-1

Main Responsibilities: Lead feasibility studies, design preparation, and cost estimation for small irrigation systems and water source conservation works in two RMs. Take the lead in implementing irrigation schemes and source conservation activities in close coordination with the field team, farmers’ groups, and local government. Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and cost estimates with extensive field travel (at least 80% at field/ward level).Coordinate with local government and other stakeholders to leverage funding for irrigation schemes and water source conservation initiatives whenever possible.Facilitate various trainings to farmers and irrigation users’ groups, including operation and maintenance (O&M) trainings.

Ensure proper social accountability measures, including conducting public audits for each infrastructure-related activity.

Qualification & Required Skills

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in irrigation and water source conservation infrastructure design and construction.
  • Strong knowledge and practical skills in the design, drawing, and cost estimation of irrigation systems such as surface irrigation, drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, and water source conservation structures.
  • Good understanding and experience in implementing farmer-managed irrigation systems.
  • Ability to conduct public audits for infrastructure support projects.
  • Strong social mobilization skills and ability to coordinate effectively with local government units, including agriculture and infrastructure development sections, as well as with other development stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

5. Position: Junior Technical Assistants for Agriculture (JTA), Field-2

Main Responsibilities: Junior Technical Assistants (JTAs) will be responsible for facilitating SIFS, PLALNN+ sessions, and other farm-based trainings for lead farmers, farmer groups, and local entrepreneurs. The position requires providing technical support to the field team and partners, as well as coordinating and building linkages with the Agriculture Section of the Rural Municipality (RM). This position is fully based at the field level.

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Intermediate degree in Agriculture with at least three years of relevant experience in food and nutrition promotion activities.
  • Strong social mobilization and coordination skills for working with partner staff and municipal agriculture/livestock personnel.
  • Knowledge and skills in facilitating trainings for Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) groups and LANN+ groups, particularly for promoting nutrition-sensitive agricultural production, indigenous crop preservation, lead farmer training, and women's skills and economic development programs.
  • Understanding of the seven-step planning process, food and nutrition behavior change, and diet diversity through agriculture-based interventions.
  • Strong skills in community meetings, awareness programs, and training facilitation.
  • Experience providing technical support to farmer groups in nutrition-sensitive crop production, farming, nursery establishment, and related activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Motivation and skills to facilitate women’s groups and farmer groups for nutrition education events at community and school levels.
  • Experience in community mobilization for conducting trainings for women and farmers, and supporting small irrigation initiatives and nursery production.
  • Strong coordination skills with local government and ward-level stakeholders.
  • Driving skills with a valid license (preferred).

6. Position: Nutrition facilitator, Field Office-1

Main Responsibilities: The Nutrition Facilitator (Social Mobilizer) will be responsible for mobilizing groups and communities for various community-based project activities such as PLA LANN+, SIFS, and other food and nutrition-related trainings and workshops at the community level. They play a key role in effective social mobilization, project implementation, communication, and providing support to women, youth, entrepreneurs, FCHVs, and change agents while conducting events, meetings, and planning activities on a regular basis at the community level. (This position is 100% field-based.)

Qualification & Required Skills

  • Intermediate degree with at least five years of relevant experience in food and nutrition-related projects
  • Strong social mobilization and coordination skills
  • Good facilitation skills for community meetings, awareness programs, and trainings
  • Skills and motivation to facilitate women’s and farmers’ groups and conduct nutrition education and promotional events at community and school levels
  • Experience in community mobilization for organizing various training events for farmers and entrepreneurs
  • Ability to conduct public auditing for each infrastructure support project and other activities
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment
  • Strong coordination skills with local government and ward-level stakeholders

Work Stations

Project Coordinator, MEAL/GESI Officer, Sub-engineer and Admin and Finance Officer, will be based in field office Khalanga Jajarkot district with frequent visit to project area/ward level of Aathbiskot municipality  and Barekot rural municipality. JTAs and Nutrition Facilitator will be based at field level in the project municipalities and travel to field office as required.
