Details / requirements:

Rural Education and Environment Development Center (REED Nepal) is a national non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Kathmandu. It has been implementing a West Nepal: Samridhee Khaptadchhanna (Education and Health Improvement) Project focusing on improving the education and health status of Khaptadchanna RM, Bajhang in the partnership/support of DFAT and Australian Himalayan Foundation-AHF. The development and sustainable mobilization of the selected local resource teachers (LRT) to enhance teaching-learning outcomes in project areas is a part of the project objectives. Hence, to strengthen the capacity of the selected ten individuals LRT, the organization/project is planning to organize a five-day MTOT on Training Facilitation in the Khaptadchanna RM. The training will be facilitated by expert individuals as a resource person, physically. In such a context, the organization is going to notify the eligible expert individuals for submission of the letter of interest to provide service as mentioned herewith.

1. Context and Background

REED Nepal has been implementing its West Nepal; Samridhee Khaptadchhanna project in close collaboration with the local government, concerned stakeholders and beneficiaries since 2022 with the purpose of enabling an inclusive and quality education governance system. Enhancing the local resource teachers-LRT's capacity in the Training Facilitation process for inclusive and quality education is a core component of the project.  Taking on consideration of such subject matters, the project is going to organize five days’ MTOT to the teachers.

The training will be run focusing on fully capacitating the participants, who can be applied such knowledge and skills in their field for organizing and facilitating the training as a resource person in future. They will also analyze the current practices and areas for improvement too. The existing practices, need and way forward also will be thoroughly analyzed in the training. Likewise, the modern training facilitation skill also will be thoroughly discussed in the training. The role of the LRT in the current context and in the future  will be a part of training. The commitment to applying obtained knowledge and skills in favor of enhancing the learning achievement also will be taken in there.

2. Objectives of the Training

The overall objective is to strengthen the capacity of  the selected teachers as master trainers in areas of training facilitation, whereas the specific objectives are as follows: 

  • Conduct five days MTOT on training facilitation to selected local resource teachers by identifying and integrating their needs on facilitation skills. 
  • Capacitate the trainees as master trainers who will be able to deliver the classes on the training facilitation process in the future.
  • Develop  plan for the implementation and application of the skill and knowledge in their respective schools.

3. Scope of Work

The resource person/consultant will:

  • Prepare training session plans, materials, and tools in collaboration with REED-Nepal, integrating need of the trainees and advanced training facilitation knowledge and skill. 
  • Facilitate all scheduled sessions during five days MTOT using participatory and reflective approaches.
  • Guide group discussions, experiential activities, and skill-building exercises.
  • Offer mentoring and feedback to participants during training.
  • Provide contents and study materials during the training.
  • Submit a brief post-training report summarizing activities, participation, and recommendations.
  • Develop and create a thorough curriculum for the training incorporating the facilitation/instruction method, model of exercise, and evaluation process as well

Methodology

The consultant is expected to propose a comprehensive methodology for the workshops and training sessions. This should include a detailed description of the content, agenda, and tools that will be used to address the mentioned content.  The interested service-providing agency/ individual can propose additional innovative ideas for the training and overall process.

  • Selected Local Resource Teachers-LRT from Khpatdchhanna RM.
  • Organization/project staff, etc.

Key Deliverables

  1. Develop a Master Training of Trainers (ToT) package considering the need and applicability for the mentioned participants/ local government having to address the national and international policy and provisions.
  2. Conduct face-to-face training/workshops through the facilitation of the experts
  3. Develop session plan and training resources (slides, handouts, activities).
  4. Five full days of active facilitation during the MTOT.
  5. Submit all deliverables in English, ensuring they are proofread, edited, and presented as a final, acceptable report. (Document training activities, attendance records, evaluation findings, and lessons learned throughout the training process. Prepare comprehensive reports to communicate outcomes, impacts, and recommendations to stakeholders.)

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

We are looking for a consultant with the following qualifications:

  1. Experience conducting similar assignments in the development sector particularly in I/NGOs and education governance in Nepal.
  2. Extensive experience (at least 10 years) in completing training/workshops for different national and international organizations and governments in similar fields.
  3. Proven and demonstrated broad knowledge, high level of professionalism and ability to utilize principles, methods, techniques, and systems of project management and planning.
  4. Excellent training and facilitation skills and development of the planning and guidelines.
  5. Experienced developing training packages based on training need assessment (The training need will be provided during the training planning process)
