CLEAN UP NEPAL is also known as Swachha Safa Nepal, established in 2014, is a non-governmental organization (NGO) with a vision to transformed Nepal where circular economies and clean systems ensure environmental justice, climate resilience, and prosperity for all generations. Awareness raising, skill development training, and the formation of Recycling and Upcycling (RU) groups in selected communities of the Western Cluster of Pokhara, facilitated by CLEAN UP NEPAL in a joint venture with DOKO Foundation, are key initiatives under the Green Job Creation through Recycling and Upcycling in Pokhara (GCRU) Project. The project is implemented with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Nepal and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nepal, in collaboration with Pokhara Metropolitan City.
The Project will conduct entrepreneurship/ skills development trainings and provide machinery, tools and equipment support to members of RU groups representing selected Tole Lane Organizations (TLOs). These trainings and support initiatives aim to strengthen the knowledge and skills of RU group members, while fostering connections with potential and existing RU enterprises engaged in recycling and upcycling waste. Trained RU groups will collaborate closely with aspiring and existing RU enterprises to supply clean raw materials within the supply chain, assist in the production of final products through semi- or pre-processing of waste, or independently produce final products.

We are looking for a passionate, proactive, and diligent individual interested and well-experienced in field mobilization and social and community facilitation. The Social Mobilizer is responsible for field-level implementation of the project activities. The Social Mobilizer must meet the following requirements as Essential skills and experience:
- At least completion of SLC/SEE (School Leaving Certificate/Secondary Education Examination).
- Minimum of one year of proven work experience in community mobilization activities, preferably in an urban or semi-urban setting.
- Good understanding of solid waste management (SWM) principles and the concept of recycling and upcycling (RU) entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated experience in training facilitation, conducting awareness sessions, and collecting field-level data accurately.
- Proven coordination and communication skills with a strong understanding of the local context, social structures, and community dynamics in Pokhara.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and partners.
- Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Main Responsibilities
- Actively mobilize community members within the assigned wards to participate in project activities, including awareness sessions, clean-up events, and skill development trainings.
- Assist the Project Coordinator and Trainers in the identification and selection of suitable participants from Tole Lane Organizations (TLOs) for SDT Module 0, 1, and 2 trainings.
- Conduct day-to-day awareness activities on waste management, segregation at source, and the benefits of recycling and upcycling within the assigned communities.
- Maintain regular coordination and communication with ward offices, TLOs, community leaders, and other local stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Prioritize Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GESI) in all activities, ensuring proportional representation and active participation of women, Dalit, Janajati, and persons with disabilities.
- Conduct quarterly on-site mentoring visits to RU groups, providing hands-on support in production, quality improvement, and financial record-keeping using production and sales registers.
- Regularly monitor the activities of RU groups and community members, collecting field data, success stories, and challenges to report back to the Project Coordinator.
- Support the project team in organizing training venues, arranging logistics for field visits, and coordinating schedules for equipment delivery and installation.
- Act as the first point of contact for RU groups facing operational challenges, providing immediate support or escalating issues (e.g., equipment repair needs) to the relevant technical expert (Mechanical Engineer).
- Assist the Project Coordinator and Mechanical Engineer in identifying and finalizing suitable locations for community waste collection centers, waste booms, and public bins.
- Maintain detailed visit logs, meeting minutes, and field activity reports, ensuring proper documentation of all community-level interactions.
- Promote and utilize the organization's Compliance Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM), ensuring community members have a safe way to raise concerns or provide feedback.
- Any other related duties as requested by the office.
