Job Summary

The Quality Control Officer is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process materials, finished products and packaging materials meet the required quality, food safety, and organic standards. The role covers daily quality checks, sampling and testing, documentation and traceability, and compliance support across the processing of herbs & spices, working closely with the production, procurement and certification teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily quality checks of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products and packaging materials.
  • Recommend sourcing strategies for selecting high-quality raw materials.
  • Coordinate with procurement and production teams to assess and improve raw material quality.
  • Monitor production processes (raw-material storage, grading, cleaning, slicing, drying, sieving and packaging of herbs & spices) to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Maintain QC records, reports, traceability logs and documentation accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO and food safety standards.
  • Supervise and document cleaning, handling, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support implementation of company quality policies and procedures.
  • Identify quality issues and coordinate corrective actions with the production team.
  • Assist during internal and third-party audits in coordination with the Certification Department.
  • Support implementation of ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 systems.
  • Ensure compliance with export, organic, food safety, and customer quality requirements before product release and shipment.
  • Train staff and workers on hygiene, critical control points, and quality procedures.
  • Coordinate with the processing unit team to improve processing workflows and efficiency.
  • Perform other quality related tasks assigned by management.

Academic and Professional Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology or related fields.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in food/agri-processing (especially spices or herbal products).
  • Freshers with exceptional academic performance and practical knowledge will also be considered.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and quality management systems, including HACCP, GMP, GHP, ISO standards, hygiene protocols and organic regulations.
  • Familiarity with machinery used in herbs & spices processing.
  • Good analytical, reporting, team training, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken Nepali and English, with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports in both languages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
