MAIN RESPONSIBITIES:
Program Manager (Nutrition and Health) is responsible for:
Key responsibility 1: Support the projects related to prevention and management of Wasting / IMAM program.
In coordination with the experts in the sector of wasting in Nepal and in HQ, the Nutrition and Health Program Manager will be responsible for:
- Support the technical working group related to management and prevention of wasting.
- Supervise the activities linked to development of Training Manuals and local level Operational Protocol related to Prevention and Management of Wasting.
- Support experts to conduct budget analysis linked to nutrition and health programs
- Collaborate with United Nations agencies (WHO, UNICEF, WFP, FAO), IMAM technical working group and other key nutrition and health stakeholders;
- Collect and analyse nutritional and health data from other partners (NGOs, UN agencies, government structures linked to IMAM program ;
- Follow up provincial level recommended actions from Gap Analysis Workshops and gather continuous feedback from the field on the implementation of the current national protocol (this takes into account the preventive/community, psycho-social-nutritional components) and prepare a list of aspects to be discussed during the revision of the protocol;
- Organize and actively participate in all workshops and other activities (field visits, supervisions, workshops, training, etc.) planned as part of the roll out of national guideline, protocols and disseminating the new directives;
- Ensure effective communication and information sharing within the ACF team (including HQ) by following the current communication plan.
Key responsibility 2: Manage, monitor and support the nutrition governance project linked to MSNP with Civil Society Organisation working in the field of nutrition and health
The Nutrition & Health Program Manager is responsible to:
- Oversee the implementation of projects related to Nutrition Governance
- Support recruitment, training and the follow up of partner teams and/or local researchers as per the need of the project
- Supervise the partner for implementation of program activities in the field and report/feedback challenges to ensure timely re-adjustments as per needs
- Support desk review in identifying key documents and existing tools
- Support the assessment/study teams in planning and implementing field data collection. Ensure rational use of resources for implementing studies related to the project optimizing planning especially for data collection.
- Supervise partner or consultants on quality of data collected and reporting, identifying issues that need strengthening and providing guidance for improvement;
- Provide support to partner in report development and finalisation.
Key responsibility 3: To participate internal/external coordination and timely reporting of program and donor report.
The Nutrition & Health Program Manager is responsible to:
- Contribute to the formulation of coordination strategies for nutrition and health and external engagement plans, providing necessary support.
- Support the Nutrition Sector by participating in various thematic/working groups and contributing to evidence generation activities, such as surveys and assessments.
- Assist the CD and Head of Programs and Partnership in the development of proposals, donor reports, contextual analysis, and providing technical support to other country programs.
- Actively participate in coordination meetings within the Nutrition and Health Sector, partner coordination meetings, internal coordination meetings, and lead program staff meetings.
- Actively coordinate with human resource department for staff recruitment, leave, GTA, attendance timely submission.
Key responsibility 4: Ensure effective logistical and financial management of the project, in conjunction with the managers of these departments
The Nutrition and Health Program Manager is responsible to:
- Establish purchasing needs and ensure the ordering of everything necessary for the implementation of project activities;
- Optimal monitoring of the project budget, reporting all alerts to Admin Co and CD
- Collaborate with the partner finance and logistics departments to ensure timely follow-up on budget and procurement processes, while maintaining quality standards.
Key responsibility 5: Other
The Nutrition and Health Program Manager is responsible to:
- Proactively support ACFs commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity
- Comply with Safeguarding Policy and the relevant annexed policies, which fall under its scope.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Master’s degree in Public Health or Public Health Nutrition or equivalent with at least 4 years work experience in nutrition and public health of which 2 years should be in management role
- Experience of working with national partners in Community / Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (C/IMAM).
- Demonstrate experience in starting new initiatives
- Strong skills in coordination and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including Ministry of Health and Population, nutrition cluster, nutrition sensitive/adjacent sectors, and other partners
- Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for working with government and other high- level stakeholders
- Ability to analyze diverse information and develop recommendations for an appropriate response to emergencies
- Demonstrate capacity in delivering high quality workshops
- Ability to travel around Nepal as required
- Sensitive and responsive to Gender, Age Diversity and Social Inclusion
- Excellent standard of written and spoken English and Nepali
- Excellent computer skills including navigating email, internet and MS Word and Excel
