Location: Dang and Banke District under Caritas Nepal, Provincial office, Kohalpur

Position Overview

Caritas Nepal, with financial and technical support from CRS Nepal, is currently implementing the Preparing communities and local leaders towards climate-Resilience, disaster Preparedness, Anticipatory Actions, and Early Recovery (PREPARE) project. This project aims to support vulnerable and marginalized communities living along the Rapti River Basin in Banke and Dang Districts. Projects will implement its activities in 16 communities of the 4 Municipalities which are Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality and Duduwa Rural Municipality in Banke District, Lamahi Municipality and Rajpur Rural Municipality in Dang District.  Project will support 1500 HHs through disaster risk reduction activities and 750 HHs through agriculture and resilient livelihood activities.

The Livelihood Officer is responsible for implementing livelihood activities of “Preparing communities and local leaders towards climate-Resilience, disaster preparedness, Anticipatory actions, and early Recovery (PREPARE),” ensuring the activities are delivered on time and to the desired standard as outlined in the project plan and timetable.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Skill and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of livelihoods, gender equality, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and disability issues.
  • Experience in facilitating training sessions, workshops, and community mobilization activities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Experience in the use of computers and office software (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
  • Willingness to work under difficult life conditions.
  • Valid driving License, able to ride a motorcycle in rural environment

Education:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (BSc. Ag.) (master’s degree preferred).
  •  Minimum 2 years of experience in community engagement, project implementation focusing on livelihood initiatives, data collection, and reporting, preferably in the development sector

Languages: 

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English

Functional competency:

  • Has excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  •  Ability to advocate and provide policy advice
  •  Promotes organizational learning and knowledge-sharing;

 Core competency:

  • Familiarity with local contexts, customs, and cultures of Tharu and Madeshi communities is preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and sound judgment
  • Strategic thinker with ability to conceptualize and operationalize;
  • Takes initiatives;
  • Acts as a team player and facilitates teamwork
