ABOUT SWAN NEPAL

SWAN is a nonprofit organization working alongside the Government of Nepal since 1994. SWAN Nepal is registered under the Organization Registration Act 2034 of Nepal with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu (Regd. No. 381/50/51) and is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council under section 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992 (SWC No. 1752).

SWAN has been working on four thematic goals - education, health, livelihoods, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). SWAN also incorporate ecotourism, gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), and emergency response as major cross-cutting issues for the sustainability of its programmes - focusing on needy children, disadvantaged women and marginalized communities, mostly working in Nepal’s remote communities. 

By working closely with the government line agencies, municipalities, rural municipalities, key stakeholders, schools and communities, and over the past 31 years, SWAN has made a remarkable difference in the lives of individuals/communities by implementing life-saving interventions to those in need in both development and humanitarian contexts.

SWAN, in partnership with SWAN Deutschland e.V., Germany, is implementing a Maternal and Child Health Project in Katari Municipality, Udayapur. To support the effective implementation of this project, SWAN invites applications from competent and motivated individuals for the following position.


Position:  Health Coordinator

Number of position: 1Period : 1 year

Job Location: Katari Municipality, Udayapur

 

JOB PURPOSE:

The Health Coordinator will support and lead the effective implementation of the baseline survey, planning, coordination, monitoring, and reporting of the Maternal and Child Health Project in alignment with organizational goals to improve maternal and child health outcomes in the targeted areas. The role requires close coordination and collaboration with local stakeholders, health facilities, health personnel, and municipal units, along with active community engagement and mobilization.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the SWAN Nepal Centeral Office, the Health Coordinator will have following major responsibilities;

 

· Lead and conduct baseline surveys at the community level, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and documentation.

· Build sound relationships with District Health service Office, Municipality Office, community hospitals, health facility staffs, community stakeholders and female community health volunteers to achieve project deliverables.

· Conduct and supervise training events at District level, health facilities and community including HFOMC meeting and orientation.

· Provide technical support visits to birthing centers, health workers and FCHVs with special focus on capacity building on data reporting, recording, clinical skill.

· Conduct frequent field visits to facilitate project implementation, training, data collection, and follow-up activities.

· Support administration, procurement, logistics management as required.

· Lead and support proposal development, report writing, and the documentation of case studies and success stories related to project interventions.

· Ensure the outcomes set for the Maternal and Child Health Project are achieved in a timely manner.

 

DESIRED COMPETENCIES:

- Experience in Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health programmmes. Training or exposure to Helping Babies Breathe (HBB), Essential Care for Every Baby (ECEB), Essential Care for Small Babies (ECSB), and Helping Mothers Survive (HMS) and Birth Preparedness Package (BPP) will be an asset.

- Maintain professional conduct, build positive working relationships across the organization, ensure confidentiality, and actively uphold the organization’s mission and core values.

- Demonstrates the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

- Strong understanding of community-based development approaches.

- Excellent organizational, reporting and documentation skills and with the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

- Good computer skills (Ms-Office, Excel, Canva, Powerpoint).

- Strong spoken and written communication skills in Nepali and English.

 

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:


-Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. (Master’s degree preferred)

-Minimum of two years of experience working with NGOs/INGOs or grassroots-level organizations engaged in maternal and child heath or related fields.
