Karnali Development Cooperation Service Society (KDCSS) is a Karnali-based non-profit making non-governmental organization registered in Jumla District Administration Office on November 4, 2009, and is affiliated with Social Welfare Council in Kathmandu. The purpose of founding this organization was to assist in resolving the miseries of the Karnali region's community people as a result of remoteness and poor economic conditions. It focuses on local development through the mobilization of youths and believes that through training and entrepreneurship development people’s economic condition can be sustainably improved. KDCSS aims to improve local-level policy and decision-making through research, study, and activism. It coordinates with government agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), media, and other like-minded organizations for economic development and good governance. The goal of KDCSS is to put efforts together interdependently for the holistic development of the communities by identifying local recourses and necessities. Following the Karnali region’s geographical difficulties and economic backwardness, KDCSS is committed to addressing social and economic issues, as well as coordinating and facilitating social services via equitable work. KDCSS has identified the following as its core program areas: Institutional Development; Livelihood and Sustainable Agriculture (Agroecology) farming system; Education; nutrition health, Hygiene; Wildlife and Environment Protection; Advocacy, Lobbying, and Awarenessness ; and Disaster Risk Reduction. Since its inception, KDCSS has been implementing various programs in a bid to address the needs of community people. KDCSS has adapted PLD (People Led Development) approach in its program implementation by facilitating a people-centered development process and ensuring the effective participation of Child, youths, youth farmer, women, Dalits, marginalized and vulnerable people in the process.

Since 2018, (KDCSS) is implementing “Community-based Red Panda Conservation in Nepal” in Sinja, Tatopani and patarasi Rural Municipality of Jumla district in partnership with Red Panda Network (RPN).  The detail of the project can be found in the links @redpandanetwork.org/. 1. Field Program Officer

Qualification 

  • Bachelor’s in forestry with minimum of 2-years of experience and preferably a related field with prior field-based work experience of 1 year and sound knowledge in natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood programs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Nepali and English.
  • Good in handling MS Office packages (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Workspace. 
  • Strong communication, coordination and team-building skills.
  • Good knowledge and skill in data and information collection, documentation, and presentation with the appropriate format. 
  • Ability to work in a team and frequently travel and work in remote areas and adverse field conditions for multiple months.
  • Able to generate project ideas from the learnings in the field.
  • Having experience or interest in working in the community level and conservation sector.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement activities in the field and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders for their effective implementation according to the work plan under the supervision of Focal Person and Program Officer.
  • Produce annual and periodic reports for the implementation of the activities of the project and submit them to the relevant agencies (such as admin, board, partners, government agencies, etc.).
  • Track and report issues and challenges faced during program implementation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with relevant government offices (Division Forest Office, District Coordination Committee, Community Forest User Groups, local councils, etc.) and local representatives, and/or the program staff as appropriate, to maintain relationships and collaboration to implement programs.
  • Timely submission of reports, minutes, photographs, field notes, and data after the completion of each activity.
  • Preparation of reports on outputs and outcomes, drafting letters, presentations, work plans, and strategies as required.
  • Collect reports, evidence, data, stories, news, and case studies related to the project implementation, its progress, and results.
  • Monitor the project activities and ensure timely completion and follow-ups.
  • Attend workshops and field visits as per requirements.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.

2. Admin and Finance Officer

Qualification 

  • Complete a bachelor's degree in bachelors in business studies/bachelor in business administration management or equivalent with prior work experience in a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in working with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Good verbal and written communication in both Nepali and English.
  • Good IT skills on the MS-Office package (MS- Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and software (Real book/Tally)
  • Good skills and knowledge of filing, accounting, administration, and report preparation.
  • Having a valid driving license for operating a two-wheeler.
  • Up to 25% of fields visit the remote site.

Job Description
