Human Rights Awareness Center (HURAC-Nepal) Rolpa is a non-profit making, non-partician and leading Nepali non-governmental organization (NGO) working in the areas of rural development, human rights and social justice, having strategic focus on protecting and promoting economic, social and cultural rights and right to development. Its major iterventions are towards pro-poor and pro people policies and practices through rural development (livelihood, education, protection, health and sanitation, forest, soil conservation, environment), advocacy, campaign, lobbying, networking, research and awareness raising for people's empowerment. In the campaign, advocacy and lobbying fronts, HURAC has been continuously embarking on the fundamental rights of the children, economically poor, socially excluded and environmentally vulnerable sections of the societies. HURAC believes in result-oriented struggles of the people against poverty, hunger and socio-economic injustices.

Human Resource Awareness Centre (HURAC) is a non-Profit Organization dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights. Established in 2051 BS, HURAc aims to uplift the lives of deprived people and communities by organizing human rights-related awareness-raising and development work. 

(HURAC) has been implementing “Community-based Red Panda Conservation in Nepal” in Sunchhahari Rural Municipality of Rolpa district in partnership with Red Panda Network (RPN).  The detail of the project can be found in the links @redpandanetwork.org/. The project has five major thematic areas viz., Research and Monitoring, Education & Outreach, Habitat Management, Sustainable Livelihood and Policy & Advocacy.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s in forestry with minimum of 2-years of experience and preferably a related field with prior field-based work experience of 1 year and sound knowledge in natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood programs.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Nepali and English.
  • Good in handling MS Office packages (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Google Workspace. 
  • Strong communication, coordination and team-building skills.
  • Good knowledge and skill in data and information collection, documentation, and presentation with the appropriate format. 
  • Ability to work in a team and frequently travel and work in remote areas and adverse field conditions for multiple months.
  • Able to generate project ideas from the learnings in the field.
  • Having experience or interest in working in the community level and conservation sector.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement activities in the field and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders for their effective implementation according to the work plan under the supervision of Focal Person and Program Officer.
  • Produce annual and periodic reports for the implementation of the activities of the project and submit them to the relevant agencies (such as admin, board, partners, government agencies, etc.).
  • Track and report issues and challenges faced during program implementation.
  • Coordinate and communicate with relevant government offices (Division Forest Office, District Coordination Committee, Community Forest User Groups, local councils, etc.) and local representatives, and/or the program staff as appropriate, to maintain relationships and collaboration to implement programs.
  • Timely submission of reports, minutes, photographs, field notes, and data after the completion of each activity.
  • Preparation of reports on outputs and outcomes, drafting letters, presentations, work plans, and strategies as required.
  • Collect reports, evidence, data, stories, news, and case studies related to the project implementation, its progress, and results.
  • Monitor the project activities and ensure timely completion and follow-ups.
  • Attend workshops and field visits as per requirements.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
