One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that has been working in the area of Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) since 2011. OHW works with local communities and local health service providers to develop a culturally appropriate Network of Safety around mothers and infants, by raising awareness, teaching good practices, and distributing essential equipment to ensure that mothers and infants survive delivery and the first months of life.

Position: District Coordinator
Duty Station: Simkot, Humla, with frequent field travel
Job Responsibilities and Main Duties
The District Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the overall management of the SMNHS project in the Humla district through the local Partner Organization, including technical support in planning, implementing, and monitoring activities and ensuring compliance.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
District Program Planning and Management
- Support development of the district Annual Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) in alignment with Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) priorities and local context
- Ensure timely and quality implementation of district-level activities to achieve program objectives and improve health outcomes
- Participate in district and local level review meetings to present progress, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions
Technical Support, Supervision and Capacity Building
- Provide technical guidance to partner organization (PO), local governments, health facilities, and project staff on MNH and related program areas
- Supervise and assess PO staff performance using standardized assessment tools
- Mentor staff through coaching, performance reviews, and capacity building support
- Review program reports, provide feedback, and ensure timely follow-up on action points
Field Monitoring and Program Quality Improvement
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor implementation, verify service quality and provide on-site technical support
- Carry out process monitoring to identify gaps and strengthen program delivery.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives based on field observations and monitoring findings
Data Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
- Promote evidence-based decision-making through accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct routine data quality assessments and support corrective actions
- Track progress against program indicators and recommend timely corrective measures
- Ensure compliance with MEL standards and support baseline surveys, evaluations, and other monitoring activities
Partner Organization Management and Compliance
- Ensure partner organizations comply with programmatic, financial and reporting requirements, including agreements, SOPs, and budgets
- Provide technical and managerial support to enhance partner performance
- Address compliance issues through corrective action plans while maintaining collaborative partnerships
- Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for POs
Government Engagement, Coordination and Advocacy
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with district and local level stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment of program activities with government health strategies and priorities.
- Represent the organization in coordination, review and joint monitoring meetings.
- Advocate for integration of MNH interventions into government plan and promote adoption of proven practices
- Support government ownership and sustainability of program outcomes
Reporting, Communication and Representation
- Prepare and submit timely monthly, quarterly, and donor-specific reports
- Serve as the organizational representative in district and local level forums
- Share field-level insights, challenges, and recommendations with management
- Strengthen coordination and communication between field, cluster, and central teams.
Learning, Innovation, and Adaptive Management
- Document and share lessons learned and best practices to inform program improvement.
- Contribute to innovative approaches that enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support piloting, adaptation and scale-up of new strategies in the district
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and adaptive management
Administrative and Accountability Responsibilities
- Review equipment and supply requests and support logistics and inventory management.
- Coordinate with partners on budget forecast and expenditure tracking.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, transparency, and ethical conduct.
Job Specifications (minimum job requirements):
Academic qualification and work experience:
- Master’s degree in Public Health with two years of previous experience in a related field, or Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Nursing from a recognized University with more than five years of experience in the related field.
Skills and abilities:
- Understanding of health care delivery systems in the Federal context and activities at different levels, especially at the district level and below.
- Ability to function as a self-starter with limited supervision.
- Knowledge and experience using MS Office and statistical packages, email and the Internet.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Nepali and English.
- Ability to manage people, good interpersonal skills, and experience working in a team.
- Good analytical skills and experience with program oversight.
- Knowledge and experience in program management and data management.
- Practical experience in facilitation and negotiation skills with government counterparts/stakeholders at different levels.
