1. Background  

Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.v. is one of the largest private aid organizations in Germany with a dual mandate in both development cooperation and humanitarian response. Welthungerhilfe (WHH) fights against hunger and works together with civil society organizations in the countries where it operates. Welthungerhilfe’s vision is to create a world in which all people can exercise their right to a self-determined life in dignity and justice, free from hunger and poverty.

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) has been operational in Nepal since 2012 and currently implements projects across eighteen districts under various thematic areas: Humanitarian Action, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Agriculture, Climate Resilience and Natural Resource Management, Nutrition and Health, Economic Development, Civil Society Empowerment, and Digital Innovation. At a broader level, WHH contributes to food systems transformation through agroecology, inclusive value chains, and strong local partnerships. Our work follows systemic transformation pathways focused on sustainable agriculture, resilient livelihoods, improved connectivity, and responsible governance to enhance nutrition, incomes, and local adaptive capacity. By promoting ecological farming practices, we aim to improve soil health and reduce reliance on external inputs. We strengthen value chains by enhancing market access and supporting cooperatives. Guided by the Right to Food and Food Sovereignty Act, we collaborate with all levels of government to promote inclusive, locally led food governance. WHH’s overarching goal is to work hand in hand with civil society in Nepal to empower socially marginalized and economically poor citizens, strengthen their resilience, and ensure their right to adequate food and nutrition.

This call comprises documentation work of three projects: Learn to Lead, WE-CAN and Better Nutrition. WHH has been implementing the Learn to Lead Project in 6 schools of Chayanath Rara Municipality and Khatyad Rural Municipality of Mugu District, Karnali Province, Nepal, through a holistic, integrated development approach. Aiming to empower children, youth, and communities from disadvantaged and marginalized communities, the project seeks to transform schools into vibrant centers of learning and community engagement, while simultaneously building the capacity of students, teachers, parents (particularly women), and local institutions. The project also envisions youths as change agents and focuses on four key pillars: enhancing the learning environment, promoting holistic well-being, strengthening livelihoods and entrepreneurship, and fostering leadership and civic participation.

The Better Nutrition has been implemented in Bajura and Achham with an aim to tackle nutrition challenges in Western Nepal through three interrelated approaches, with the overall objective to contribute towards an effective implementation of the Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Plan (MSNP III), leaving no one behind in the hilly and mountain regions.

Similarly, "Women in Climate Resilient Agriculture Systems for Enhanced Nutrition (WE CAN)" aims to improve food and nutrition security among 2,500 marginalized households in two rural municipalities: Sanfebagar and Chaurpati of Achham District, located in Sudurpashchim Province, Nepal. These households, predominantly from Dalit and female-headed backgrounds, are highly vulnerable to food insecurity, climate shocks, and systemic exclusion from services and resources. The project's geographical focus encompasses nine Wards across the two municipalities.

2. Objective of the assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to document the project intervention areas, including school construction/renovation works, climate-resilient agriculture, livelihood and entrepreneurship support, youth and women empowerment initiatives, promotion of nutrition garden in schools, leadership promotion, learn and earn approach, Participatory Learning Action through Linking agriculture natural resource management towards nutrition security (PLA LANN+) approach, Sustainable Integrated Farming System (SIFS) approach, Malnutrition screening, Nutrition and food security steering committee (NFSSC) meetings with municipalities, input support to farmers promoting climate resilient farming practices,  and other key project activities and achievements through videos, photographs, case studies, and success stories. The materials produced will cater to donors, government, project stakeholders, and public.

Alongside the documentation work, the assignment involves facilitating a workshop in Mugu District on content creation and the responsible use of social media as a tool for income generation and market linkage. The participants of the workshop will include vulnerable, marginalized entrepreneurial youth, women, Dalits, indigenous/tribal communities, and other targeted participants of the project.

Furthermore, the documentation will be carried out in two phases over the course of the projects. Phase I will capture the initial implementation efforts and establish the baseline context. Phase II will document the progress achieved and highlight the projects' key outcomes, impacts, and contributions over their implementation period.
