Project Overview & Technical Context

Project Background: Sisyphus I.T. Group Pvt. Ltd. (based in Lalitpur, Nepal) is preparing a proposal for the Sustainable Electric Transport for Nepal (SET4NPL) project. Jointly implemented by GIZ and GGGI in partnership with the Government of Nepal, this initiative supports the deployment of 3,500+ Electric Minibus (EMB) Support Packages and the rollout of e-ticketing, GPS-enabled fleet monitoring, and public charging infrastructure.

Technical Ecosystem: The SET4NPL digital platform consists of a web portal, supporting databases, dashboards, three mobile applications (passenger, driver/conductor, and PTO admin), GPS-based live-location services, e-ticketing software, payment integrations, and integration with point-of-sale (POS) backends, immobilizers, and route-display systems.

Please note that this position is for a proposed project that is currently under tender evaluation. Offers are contingent upon contract award to Sisyphus I.T. Group. Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. All applicants must be Nepalese nationals or possess the valid right to work in Nepal.

These roles are part time, and hours will vary according to specific project needs over the life of the 1-year contract. Work will be primarily remote. Certain job functions will require attendance on-site around the Kathmandu Valley.

Baseline Qualifications for the STE Pool

  • Education / training: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, from a recognised and reputable institution.

  • Language: Excellent oral and written skills in English (corresponding to C1) and working proficiency in Nepali.

  • General professional experience: 2 years of relevant professional experience in Nepal or abroad.

  • Specific professional experience: 2 years of experience in software quality assurance, test coordination, UAT design and execution, or release management; experience with mobile applications, payment systems or transport-related software preferred.

  • Core Competencies: Necessary socio-cultural skills, client and partner orientation, good communication skills, team skills, initiative, efficient work practices, and interdisciplinary thinking.

  • Other: Ability to travel to stakeholder sites with own mode of transportation.

Position A: PTO Operational Change Management Specialist

Role Focus: You will handle the operational and human-side transition required at Public Transport Operators (PTOs) for successful e-ticketing adoption. You will not design training or campaign modules, but focus on operational workflow alignment and coordination with local PTOs.

Specific Professional Experience:

  • Experience working with public transport operators, fleet operations, fare systems or operational change management.

  • Ability to map "as-is" fare collections/settlements and build a Target Operating Model (TOM) covering fare migration, conductor vs. tap-in/tap-out adoption, and cash handling residuals.

Position B: Payments and PSP Specialist

Role Focus: You will drive the technical testing, coordination, and validation of digital payment gateways and open-loop configurations. Commercial or licensing negotiations with payment systems are handled separately by legal counsel and are outside this scope.

Specific Professional Experience: 

  • Familiarity with the Nepalese payment ecosystem (NEPALPAY QR / NCHL, Fonepay, eSewa, Khalti, IME Pay, ConnectIPS, Visa national) and open-loop / EMV integration pathways.

  • Experience in test design, coordination and verification of QR/wallet and open-loop payment integrations, settlement and reconciliation workflows.

Position C: GESI Specialist

Role Focus: You will ensure that the deployment of digital transport technologies is equitable, safe, and easily accessible across different demographics.

Specific Professional Experience: 

  • Experience integrating gender-equality and social-inclusion (GESI) considerations into User Acceptance Testing (UAT) design, training rollout, and operational pilots.

Position D: Light Data and Dashboards Expert

Role Focus: You will turn raw system logs and transaction exports into clean, clear operational insights for project management.

Specific Professional Experience: 

  • Capacity to maintain operational KPI tracking and produce simple dashboards from raw data sets.
