The Association for Social Transformation and Humanitarian Assistance (ASTHA Nepal) is a non-political, non-profit organization established in 1996 (formerly Village Development and Women Awareness Centre) with a mission to promote equitable, inclusive, and sustainable development in Nepal.

Over nearly three decades, ASTHA Nepal has grown into a nationally recognized organization, implementing high-impact programs in livelihoods, health and nutrition, education, governance, renewable energy, and humanitarian response.

The organization focuses on empowering marginalized communities—especially women, children, Dalits, and indigenous groups—through capacity building, social mobilization, and rights-based approaches.

With operations in 35 districts and partnerships with over 45 national and international agencies, including USAID, UNDP, European Union, SDC, ADB and World Bank, ASTHA has significantly contributed to improving livelihoods, strengthening local governance, promoting gender equality, and advancing Nepal’s development goals and SDGs.

Position: Research Associate 

Financial Remuneration: Attractive package reflecting competencies and experience

Location: New Baneshower, Kathmandu

Reporting to: Executive Director 

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate bid preparation and proposal writing for the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Unit, ensuring efficient collaboration between technical teams, external consultants, clients, and all relevant stakeholders to deliver high-quality proposals, concept notes, etc. 
  • Conduct national and international portal-based market research, pre-positioning, and strategic priority setting.
  • Administer structured market analyses to forecast future project opportunities, identify ongoing opportunities, evaluate competitions, and prepare quarterly business reports highlighting business development strategies for the firm. 
  • Identify the experts and human resources through headhunts, advertisement, and LinkedIn, and update the ASTHA database.  
  • Carry out original research and analysis on specific thematic areas to support project implementation and management.
  • Support in content development of the company website and social media to reflect the firm's strengths and ongoing projects.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Business Development Advisor. 

Education and Professional Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in research methodology, management, international development, civil engineering, statistics, economics, development studies, and other relevant field.
  • 1 years of experience in documentation, multiple project proposal writing, research, and program design for donors, multilateral organizations, INGOs, and NGOs in the development sector (Freshers are encouraged to apply) 

Core Competencies and Technical/Functional Expertise:

  • Excellent ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize and implement multiple tasks within strict deadlines, and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Nepali languages
  • Excellent ability to work well within a team as well as independently.
  • Strong interpersonal capacity with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor.
  • Ability and willingness for field travel.
  • Strong at using MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Skilled in design and communication tools like CANVA, Piktochart, etc.
