1. Quality Control Officer – 1 Post
Location: Dhangadhi Branch
Job Description:
The Quality Control Officer will ensure that all meals prepared and distributed under Food for Life Nepal’s programs meet required nutrition, hygiene, safety, and quality standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining food safety compliance, monitoring kitchen operations, and improving overall service quality.
Major Responsibilities:
- Monitor food preparation processes to ensure hygiene and quality standards are maintained.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen facilities, storage areas, and food handling practices.
- Ensure compliance with food safety guidelines and organizational SOPs.
- Maintain quality control records, checklists, and inspection reports.
- Train kitchen staff on hygiene practices, food safety, and quality standards.
- Monitor portion control and nutritional consistency of meals.
- Report quality concerns and recommend corrective actions to management.
- Support audits, monitoring visits, and program evaluations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Public Health, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years experience in food quality control or kitchen supervision.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Strong observation, reporting, and coordination skills.
2. Head Cook – 1 Post
Location: Dhangadhi Branch
Job Description:
The Head Cook will be responsible for leading and supervising the day-to-day operations of the kitchen at Food for Life Nepal’s Dhangadhi Branch. The position will oversee kitchen staff, meal preparation, food quality, portion control, cleanliness, and timely production and distribution of meals in accordance with organizational standards and approved menus.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of kitchen staff.
- Preparation and cooking of meals according to the approved menu, recipes, and required quantities.
- Ensure meals are prepared and ready for distribution on time.
- Monitor the quality, taste, consistency, and portion size of meals.
- Ensure proper use, handling, storage, and preservation of food ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, cooking area, equipment, and utensils.
- Ensure kitchen staff follow food safety, hygiene, and organizational SOPs.
- Allocate daily duties to kitchen staff and ensure smooth workflow within the kitchen.
- Monitor the use of ingredients and minimize food wastage.
- Coordinate with the Branch Manager and Quality Control Officer regarding kitchen operations, meal quality, and any concerns.
- Check and report requirements for kitchen supplies, ingredients, equipment, and maintenance.
- Train and guide kitchen staff on proper cooking methods, hygiene, safety, and kitchen procedures.
- Maintain basic kitchen records related to meal production, ingredient usage, wastage, and other operational requirements.
- Address day-to-day kitchen issues and report major concerns to the concerned management.
- Ensure proper cleaning and closing procedures are followed at the end of each kitchen operation.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum +2 or equivalent qualification; training in culinary arts/cookery will be an advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Cook/Chef, preferably with experience leading or supervising a kitchen team.
- Experience in institutional, school, catering, restaurant, or large-scale kitchen operations preferred.
- Good knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, food safety, and kitchen management.
- Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining consistent quality and portion sizes.
- Good leadership, teamwork, coordination, and time-management skills.
- Physically fit and able to work in a busy kitchen environment
