About Organization

Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Nepal (TPO) Nepal is a prominent psychosocial organization in Nepal, established in 2005 with the aim of enhancing the psychosocial well-being and mental health of individuals in conflict-affected and vulnerable communities. The organization focuses on developing sustainable, culturally appropriate, and community-based psychosocial support systems, with research being a key component of its programs.

TPO Nepal is currently seeking qualified and dedicated individuals for the role of Qualitative Researcher to conduct a study aimed at developing an ethno-psychological model for self-regulation and emotional regulation, as well as a tool for measuring self-regulation.

Position: Qualitative Researcher
Job station: Kathmandu (with some travel outside of Kathmandu)
Job duration: 6 months with a possibility of extension for a further 2-4 months
Number of openings: 2
Start date: As soon as possible

Responsibilities

  1. Review existing qualitative data and publications related to the subject matter.
  2. Engage in implementation of qualitative study including field coordination, planning and field data management.
  3. Coordinate with school officials to facilitate research activities.
  4. Conduct data collection using through interviews and group discussions.
  5. Translate qualitative interviews.
  6. Contribute translation of qualitative interviews.
  7. Perform qualitative data management including coding, and analysis using Nvivo.
  8. Contribute to the development a framework and tools for self-regulation and emotional regulation.
  9. Assist in development of scientific papers for publication in journals.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in qualitative research encompassing qualitative data collection, transcribing, and translation of the qualitative transcripts and analyzing qualitative data, and generating outputs through diverse methods.
  • Profeciency in qualitative analysis software (Nvivo)
  • Preference for candidates with experience in mental health research and academic publications in peer-reviewed journals.
