Job Description for the position of Project Manager
Ujyalo Foundation is a non-profit organization, established in 2014, to create safe spaces for girls, women, and nonbinary individuals to learn and lead in Nepal. Our mission is to enhance the number of girls, women, and nonbinary individuals in leadership and decision-making roles in Nepal. The Foundation is a purpose-driven, dynamic, and impact-oriented organization that believes in creating a gender-just and equitable world for all.
Since its inception, the Ujyalo Foundation has been running various leadership institutes for women of diverse age groups to build their capacity for leadership via the lens of gender, sexuality, rights, and intersectionality. Ujyalo Foundation also focuses on sustainable development in rural Nepal by conducting programs that promote innovation, encourage social enterprise, and increase capacity building through community-based projects and gender-inclusive leadership, as well as strengthening the leadership and civic expansion of the elected women representatives.
The main objective of this position is to ensure the management, implementation, and evaluation of the programs and to maintain transparent communication with the participants and stakeholders.
I. Title: Project Manager
II. Location: Kathmandu (Frequent field visits at least 80%)
III. Reports to: Executive Director
IV. Project timeline: 3.5 years
Roles and Responsibilities
A. Project Planning, Implementation, and Execution:
- Plan, design, and execute sessions and workshops.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and local authorities in Madhesh Pradesh for the smooth execution of the program.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment to ensure intersectional representation of the community members in the program.
- Maintain the programmatic and budgetary timeline to ensure effective and timely execution of the project.
- Manage all the logistics aspects of the program with relevant teammates.
B. Public Relations and Stakeholder Management:
- Communicate regular updates on the project’s progress and challenges to the relevant stakeholders.
- Manage relationships with related project alumni, facilitators, and individual donors for continued support and engagement throughout the project.
- Adapt program strategies based on any unforeseen challenges, such as COVID-19 or disaster, in collaboration with the team and relevant stakeholders.
C. Reporting, Monitoring, and Evaluation:
- Implement monitoring and evaluation tools for the project to compile relevant data and feedback to strengthen knowledge building.
- Conduct periodic meetings with the team and relevant parties to review project timeline progress and ensure alignment with objectives.
D. Communication and Documentation:
- Ensure effective documentation and reporting of the project-based activities.
- Plan and execute effective communication strategies about the project with the communications team.
E. Qualification, Experience, and Skills
- Must have a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Must have at least three (3) years of experience in project management and monitoring, and evaluation.
- At least three (3) years of professional experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion, feminist leadership framework, or a similar field in Nepal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Google Drive, and online project management tools.
- Proficient in Nepali reading and writing.
- Experience in community outreach and report writing is a must.
- Experience in team management is a must.
- Experience in liaising with the local government.
- Facilitation experience is preferred.

G. Salary Range: NPR 75- 80K per month
