Scenario-Based GIS & Field Documentation Task

(To be submitted as part of the application max 1 page)

DO NOT USE AI TO GENERATE THE RESPONSE. APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED SUMMARILY, IF DETECTED.

Imagine a coffee-based agroforestry project implemented at a landscape scale. The project consists of a cluster of 50 independent cooperative societies, collectively forming the overall project area. The aggregate farmland of all member farmers constitutes the effective project boundary.

Each cooperative society comprises 2540 member farmers. Individual farmers cultivate shade-grown coffee under agroforestry systems, with one or more farm plots per farmer.

For project documentation, monitoring, and reporting purposes, the spatial structure of the project is organized hierarchically as follows:

  • Individual farmer-owned farm plot polygons
  • Nested within a Cooperative Society polygon
  • Each Cooperative Society polygon further nested within the overall project boundary polygon representing all 90 cooperatives

Based on this structure, explain step-by-step how you would:

  • Collect and validate GPS data for individual farmer farm plots
  • Digitize farm-level polygon shapefiles
  • Delineate and verify Cooperative Society boundary polygons
  • Ensure correct spatial nesting and topology across all levels
  • Link spatial data with farmer and cooperative attributes in Excel
  • Export and share spatial outputs (shapefiles, KML/KMZ, maps) for reporting and field verification

Briefly mention the GIS tools/software you would use and how you would ensure data accuracy and consistency in a field-based setting.

Applications should be submitted promptly due to immediate mobilization requirements.
