Introduction:

Kitchen Hand is responsible for cleaning kitchen, support chefs and equipment care who is directly responsible to Unit Catering Manager (UCM) and Quarter Master BGN (QM BGN) for smooth running and daily management of food service to enable HQ BGN to carry out its core function.

This position is advertised at 40 hours per week.

Job description:

  • Deliver effective cleanliness of catering facilities i.e. butcher room, food production areas, dining facilities, storage area and kitchen areas as directed by Unit Catering Manager.
  • Cleaning of all used catering equipment and utensils.
  • Follow all the Health & Safety rules and regulations within the catering and BGN premises.
  • Ensure to follow the cleaning schedule prepared by the Unit Catering Manager.
  • Safe use, maintenance and record keeping of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) items.
  • Assist Chef in preparation of fruits and vegetables.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and within bounds of competence directed by Unit Catering Manager.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of Kitchen helper with any Hotels or catering establishment.
  • General Knowledge of modern Kitchen utensils.
  • Adequate cleaning knowledge to achieve role and responsibilities.
  • Basic food safety and allergens knowledge to prevent food poisoning.
  • Respond positively to changes.
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials & COSHH.
  • Understand and implement basic Health and Safety at Work.
  • Must be physically and medically fit to undertake arduous work.

Qualification:

  • Academic – Minimum Secondary Education (SLC/SEE), Hotel Management Diploma
  • Technical – Must have basic Food Hygiene Certificate 
  • English – Medium level of Written and Spoken
  • Nepali – Medium level of Written and Spoken

Benefits & Working Environment:

  • Salary 50,763.00 NPR per month (Permanent).
  • Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.
  • Dashain Bonus & Retirement Funds i.e. EPF and CIT (optional).
  • Public holidays 10 days and Annual leave 25 days (Annual leave will be increased to 30 days after completing 5 years of service).

Security and Medical Check:

Successful candidates must meet the security and medical requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is a Govt of Nepal Police Report for employment in Nepal. Pre employment medical check will be carried out by BGN.
