ASN has been engaged in developing and implementing programs aimed at protection, promotion, and fulfillment of child rights in Nepal. Currently ASN has been working in 20 districts under 6 Thematic Areas as: Education/Child Protection, Women Empowerment, Livelihood/ Natural Resource Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Health/ Nutrition and Good Governance.

Aasaman Nepal in partnership with Mercy Corps is implementing the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (ZCRA) program in Madhesh Province. The Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (ZCRA) is an alliance of nine organizations including international NGOs, private sector, and academic organizations, who have come together with the support of the Zurich Foundation to drive better policy and practice to reduce the negative impact of multi hazards (floods and heatwaves) on peoples’ and communities’ ability to thrive. The Alliance finished its first phase in 2018, second phase in Dec 2023 and third phase will run till Dec 2027. During this time, the Alliance will take a system approach and implement a combination of pilot programs, research, knowledge management and work to influence community donors, policy makers, and practitioners to invest in climate resilience through:
- Strengthened DRRM and CCA governance in Province and Local Level.
- Increased financing Government’s financing on DRRM and CCA at all levels of government.
- Enhanced Private Sector’s role in supporting DRRM and CCA efforts.
Mercy Corps is leading the ‘influencing and advocacy’ work within the Alliance, as well as making substantial contributions to work streams on knowledge management, research, and piloting innovative field programming with communities, private sector, and government.
Aasaman Nepal is looking for the self-motivated, result oriented and hard-working Nepali citizen for the following position.
1. Information Management Officer -3 (Mahadewa RM, Saptari; Chakraghatta RM, Sarlahi and Paroha Municipality, Rautahat)
Job Purpose
The Information Management Officer (IMO) is responsible for full functionality of LEOC at designated Palika. Along with he/she is responsible for managing, updating, and maintaining disaster risk reduction (DRR) and disaster-related information from municipalities on the BIPAD portal of the NDRRMA. The officer will provide technical and coordination support for DRR information management, web-based disaster and early warning systems (EWS), and knowledge generation. This role includes enhancing municipal staff capacity, ensuring data accuracy, and promoting the use of DRR information for effective disaster risk management and decision-making.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Maintain robust information management systems for disaster risk data.
- Manage databases to store, process, and analyze spatial (GIS) and non-spatial data.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility for stakeholders.
- Utilize GIS/QGIS and OpenStreetMap (OSM) to create risk maps, vulnerability assessments, and resource allocation plans.
- Conduct spatial analysis to identify high-risk areas and prioritize anticipatory interventions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data systems with anticipatory action frameworks and early warning systems.
- Analyze weather forecasting data to support trigger preemptive responses.
- Share insights with local level, NGOs, and communities to guide preparedness activities.
- Train municipal staff and partners on data collection tools, GIS applications, and information management protocols.
- Document best practices and lessons learned for knowledge sharing.
- Liaise with meteorological agencies, disaster management committees, and humanitarian partners to ensure data coherence.
- Support the development of case studies and impact assessments.
- Other roles and responsibilities as per organizational need.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information management, Geography, Environmental Science, Disaster Management, or a related field.
- Certification in GIS, Data Analysis, or similar technical fields
- Minimum 3 years in information management, data analysis, or GIS roles within humanitarian/development sectors
- Experience in disaster risk management, anticipatory action, or early warning systems
- Familiarity with weather forecasting systems and their application in disaster contexts
- Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or UN bodies
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of DRR, anticipatory action and humanitarian standards.
- Familiarity with mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoBo Toolbox, ODK).
Core Competencies

- Flexibility to work outside regular hours during crises
Languages: Strong command of Nepali, English (oral and written) and local language preferred/required.
