Background
ChildFund Japan Nepal Office (CFJ NO) is an international non-governmental organization working in Nepal since 1995. Our headquarters is in Tokyo, Japan, and we are one of twelve members of the ChildFund global alliance that helps child-focussed organizations directly benefit over 20m children and their families in 70 countries. CFJ NO serves disadvantaged children, families, and communities in the areas of child-friendly and gender-sensitive education, child protection, disaster risk reduction, health, nutrition, and sustainable community-based livelihoods, among others. These are accomplished through a combination of targeted sponsorship and external grants funding that aim towards a holistic development of children.
Position: Grant Finance Officer (GFO) – Government of Japan-funded project
The Grant Finance Officer supports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Government of Japan-funded project by ensuring sound financial stewardship, compliance, accountability, and partner capacity strengthening.
Purpose of the Position
We are hiring the position to ensure effective financial management of the MOFA-funded project through budgeting, financial planning, partner financial oversight, donor compliance, financial reporting long with internal control, audit readiness and capacity building while safeguarding ChildFund Japan resources and reputation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, or related discipline with at least five years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree with at least seven years of progressively responsible experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing institutional donor grants (experience with Government of Japan/MOFA grants is highly desirable).
- Experience working with local NGO partners and conducting financial monitoring and capacity building.
Knowledge and Skills
- Grant financial management and donor compliance.
- Budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash-flow management.
- GAAP and internal control principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
- Excellent English and Nepali communication skills.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and relationship management skills.

Compensation
NPR 65,000–90,000 per month, inclusive of all applicable benefits. Competitive compensation within this range will be offered based on the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, and skills.
