SHAKHI is a young women-led grassroots feminist organization dedicated to empowering women and girls from marginalized and vulnerable communities in the Terai/Madhesh region of Nepal, specifically in the Bara District. Our mission is to promote gender equity, social justice, and access to basic rights and opportunities for historically excluded groups. including the Dom, BIN, DAS, and Natuwa communities. These groups face deep-rooted social discrimination, poverty, and harmful practices like early forced marriages. Through our feminist approach, we seek to dismantle these barriers and create a society where women and girls can live with dignity, free from violence and discrimination.

About SHAKHI

SHAKHI is a young women-led grassroots feminist organization in the Terai/Madhesh region. We are dedicated to dismantling social discrimination and harmful practices like child marriage and the dowry system through feminist movement building. We are currently implementing the “HAMRO SAHAS” project with support from the UK in Nepal and UN Women.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified Facilitator to lead a 3-day residential workshop (19–21 February 2026) for our Executive Board and staff. The goal is to deepen our internal practice of Transformative Feminist Leadership (TFL) and align our team with our strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design a participatory curriculum tailored to a grassroots, women-led context.
  • Facilitate sessions on power analysis ("Power Over" vs. "Power With"), non-hierarchy, and collective care.
  • Help the team draft a "Feminist Leadership Charter".
  • Submit a final workshop report within 7 days of completion.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Proven experience facilitating workshops on feminist leadership or social justice.
  • Deep understanding of the socio-political context of rural Nepal and the challenges faced by Dalit and marginalized communities.
  • Fluency in Nepali and/or local languages Bhojpuri is highly preferred.
  • Empathetic listening and strong moderation skills.
