Rural Development and Awareness Society (RUDAS) Nepal is an exclusive service-oriented non-governmental organization (NGO), registered in District Administrative Office, Rolpa, Nepal in 2061 getting registration No.73/061/062. It was affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC), Nepal with affiliation No. 17550/061/062. The branch of the organization has been legally established in 2067 BS in Ghorahi of Dang District. The main vision of establishing the organization was to foster communities mobilizing them to use resources for the betterment of their existing situation. Since the date of establishment, the organization has been working with the targeted communities rigorously and continuously sometimes being a volunteer and most often with the support of different funding development partners. For running following project in Rolpa district we are seeking staff in various positions as given below.

Rural Development and Awareness Society (RUDAS) Nepal registered in Rolpa district is committed to community development, focusing on rural and underprivileged communities in the Rolpa district. RUDAS Nepal plays a critical role in connecting the needs of rural and disadvantaged communities with government bodies and development organizations. This diversity fosters participatory and grassroots democracy, ensuring inclusive decision-making processes at all levels within the organization. The organization is equipped with strong leadership, financial transparency, effective communication, and a robust monitoring system. The organization focuses to uplift marginalized groups, including the ultra-poor, people with disabilities, women, Dalit, and Janajati, striving to improve their living standards maintaining synergy with the national, provincial, and local level and with donor community.

In the same context, Rural Development and Awareness Society (RUDAS) Nepal in partnership with Ipas Nepal is implementing Strengthening Sustainable SRHR and Climate Resilient Health System in Rolpa district. The main goal of the program is to enhance the adaptive capacity of communities, especially marginalized women, and girls, to mitigate the slow and rapid onset of climate change and disaster. One of the objectives is to update and document knowledge on previous, ongoing research and interventions (especially on differential impacts of climate change upon marginalized women and girls) on climate change adaptation at local level in Nepal. Hence RUDAS Nepal is seeking climate change professionals to develop LAPA of Sunchahari Rural Municipality incorporating sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) components. 

Objective of Assignment

The primary objective of this consultancy is to prepare of Local Adaptation and Plan of Action incorporating gender and SRHR issues.

Scope of the Assignment

  • Review of plans, policies related to climate, change, disaster, gender and SRHR policy of the respective municipalities, provincial and federal level.
  • Preparation of required GIS maps including location, hazard, land use, drainage of the respective municipality.
  • Conduct temperature and precipitation analysis of the respective municipality.
  • Conduct Palika level inception and exit workshop using tools identified by the team.
  • Conduct vulnerable and risk assessment at all wards using tools identified by the team.
  • Conduct FGDs with vulnerable and marginalized community
  • Prepare the report.

Timeline

The consultant should accomplish the whole task within 30 days after signing the agreement for this assignment. The one month will spread from November 20 - December 20.

Qualification and Expertise 

RUDAS Nepal is looking for a consultant to conduct this assignment. The consultant should understand climate change, gender and SRHR and experience of conducting climate vulnerability and risk analysis and adaptation planning. Experience in preparation for LAPA will be given priority.

The consultant should possess the following qualifications and expertise:

  • Must have master's degree in environmental science, forestry, or relevant subject.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant local climate and environmental policies.

Reporting and coordination:

The consultant will report to the RUDAS Nepal and coordination with RUDAS Nepal Ipas Nepal SRHR program team.
