The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies (NSs). IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality. IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination; (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization; and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services. IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegations and country delegations throughout the world. Team Building Consultant

American Red Cross Nepal

Location: Kathmandu, Nepal

Timeframe: 5 working days during October 1 to October 31, 2021.

Background:

The American Red Cross (ARC) International Services Department (ISD) seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering around the world by responding to disasters, building safer, more resilient communities, and educating future humanitarians. The American Red Cross continues to deepen and expand its international programming while also working to strengthen the global Red Cross/Red Crescent Network in order to deliver critical assistance to some of the most vulnerable communities in the world.

The American Red Cross has been physically present in Nepal since 2015. However, the American Red Cross is working in Nepal for more than a decade and has a long history of collaboration with the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) in implementing community-based disaster preparedness and risk reduction programs, often funded by our core donor, Margaret Anne Cargill Philanthropies (MACP). The American Red Cross, in partnership with NRCS is currently pursuing a multi-year grant with MACP and from two projects funded from American Red Cross internal resources raised for Nepal Earthquake to strengthen the capacity of the vulnerable communities living in disaster prone areas to better manage and respond to risks posed by natural disasters. The American Red Cross Nepal is closing its project office by 30th November 2021 and will be running in Nepal portfolio with presence of small team. The American Red Cross Nepal Delegation would like to engage a team building consultant/contractor with extensive expertise in virtual and personal work balance, stress management, increasing employability staff and motivating the staff in achieving program goals in different circumstances adding recreation team building exercise.

Purpose and Scope:

The Team building consultant/contractor will work closely with the American Red Cross Program Manager and other AmCross staff.  The purpose of this consultant/contractor is to support the preparation of training material, conducting training for 3 - 4 days and preparation of report. The consultant will facilitate team building workshop to increase employability of AmRC staff and motivation to successfully complete the programs. The consultant will present tools and tips on how to better research for job finding, preparation of interviews. The total time frame of consultancy will be for approx. 5 days. 1 day for preparation of training materials and  3– 4 days for workshop facilitation. 

Main Tasks:

  • Prepare training materials, facilitate 3-4days workshop to increase employability of staff and re-energize motivation among staff and prepare workshop report. 

Key Deliverables:

  • Facilitation of 3-4days workshop on team building cum increasing employability of AmRC staff. 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject, master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience of facilitation of workshops/trainings in national and international setting on communications, enhancing interpersonal skills, team bonding and increasing employability. 
  • Proven experience/expertise in facilitation of workshop on increasing employability and increasing motivation. 
  • Proven skills in organizing team building event, preparation of training materials. 
  • Sound knowledge of participatory methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve results through collaboration.
  • Previous working experience in Nepal.

Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken English. 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Red Cross movement is an asset.

Compensation:

  • Daily fees per working day. Must be quoted in Nepalese currency (NPR)
  • A workday is equal to 8 hours.
