Position: Social Worker

Duty Location: Dhapasi, Tokha, Kathmandu

Job Summary:

Social Worker in Asha Nepal will work with children and families who have been affected by gender based violence and are now socially excluded or families in crisis to support them to have a stable life. With the aim to ensure that families remain safe and stable in the community, and children having access to regular academic and vocational education. Social worker works in close coordination with these families to provide timely required support to prevent family separation. 

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • To complete assessment forms, follow up forms, risk assessments and case notes on specified standards and timescales set out by the organization.
  • To listen, understand the situation, identify the need, prioritize it, plan the actions recommend the best course of action to the case management team, make decision and deliver it in time for the service users
  • To visit families in their residence or contact them by phone at least once a month to have their updates and provide needed support to them
  • To visit children and their schools to know about their education and educational progress
  • To support the mothers to help prepare for the return of their child from organization
  • To understand the emotional need of the children, mother and family and provide emotional support according to their need.
  • To help families find job and ensure that they have regular source of income to look after their families
  • To provide career coaching to the children to help them identify and pursue appropriate course for chosen career 
  • To liaise with respective organizations and persons and make referrals to other agencies.
  • To conduct informal interviews with children and their families to assess and review their situation and to close the case.
  • To participate in case management team meetings and assist with maintaining up to date records in their personal folders.
  • To participate in regular staff meetings.

Reporting:

  • To report formally and informally to the line manager as required.
  • To keep all case notes up to date together with the case manager.
  • To participate in weekly case management meeting and input into weekly planning.
  • To prepare quarterly report of the projects run by organization

Key Requirements: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with minimum two years of experience
  • Thorough knowledge on social work practice and its values
  • Excellent computer skills. 
  • Good organizational skills.
  • High degree of integrity and responsibility.
  • Good spoken and written skills in both English and Nepali.
  • Compulsory Two wheeler licence
