Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS) was established in 2000 as a service-oriented, non-profit making non-governmental organization for improving the living standard of marginalized communities through partnership with national and international organization and agencies. It was started by Animal Health Improvement Program (AHIP) of Rural Development Centre (RDC) under the direction of United Mission to Nepal in 1981 to address the myriad of constraints faced by rural livestock raisers. It is registered in District Administration Office Kaski and affiliated with Social Welfare Council. It works for the benefit of its target communities in the areas of animal health, husbandry and equine welfare. It also addresses need-based livestock-mediated program diversification such as livelihood enhancement via agriculture practices.

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Animal Health Training and Consultancy Service (AHTCS), a service oriented, non-profit making national NGO officiated in Pokhara that works in the areas of animal health and management, equine welfare, influencing, community development, veterinary research, and training to poor, marginalized and needy farmers all over the country. The AHTCS invites application from the dynamic, qualified and highly motivated Nepali citizen for the following position:
1. Position: Service Provision Officer
Project: Sustainable Equine Welfare through Improved Human Behavior and Working Environment Project (SEWP)
Level: AHTCS level 8
Responsible to: Project Coordinator
Location: AHTCS field office Nepalgunj, Banke with frequent travel to project sites. (Working station may change as needed)
Job Summary
The Service Provision Officer will play a key role in strengthening equine welfare and health services within the project areas. This position is responsible for coordinating with government line agencies and key stakeholders to ensure the inclusion of equine welfare in broader animal health plans. The SPO will identify service gaps and develop effective strategies for improving care for working equids.
The role includes providing support to Welfare Facilitators and veterinary technicians, particularly in emergency health services, and leading trainings for vet technicians, Local Healthcare Providers, and VAHWs on equine welfare, health, and management. The SPO will also be responsible for regular monitoring, supervision, and guidance to ensure efficient service delivery.
In addition, the Service Provision Officer will manage planning, implementation, reporting, and documentation of project activities, and maintain continuous consultation with the Project Coordinator/Executive Director and other relevant personnel. The SPO will also perform other duties as assigned to support the smooth implementation of project objectives.
Additionally, the role involves packaging research findings and developing effective communication channels for the dissemination of information. Other responsibilities include project documentation, stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and promoting learning and knowledge management within the sector.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in veterinary science (BVSc & AH) or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or higher and must hold a valid veterinary practice license from the Nepal Veterinary Council (NVC).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary project management, including planning, monitoring, and reporting for animal welfare or community development initiatives.
- Experience in veterinary practice, with basic practice equine health or welfare (e.g. clinical work, field projects, or research) will be preferable.
- Have two-wheeler driving license and driving experience would be essential
2. Position: Project Officer (Program & MEAL)
Level : AHTCS-7/8
Responsible to: Project Coordinator/ Executive Director
Location: AHTCS Head Office Pokhara with 20% Field Visits to Project areas
Job Summary
The Project Officer (Program & MEAL) is responsible for supporting the effective implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) functions of AHTCS projects. This role ensures that program activities are executed as planned, meet quality standards, and contribute to achieving the project’s objectives. The PO will coordinate closely with project teams, stakeholders, and partners to support program planning, activity execution, and field-level supervision. They will ensure systematic data collection, verification, analysis and maintain high-quality documentation for learning and reporting purposes. The role also involves strengthening accountability systems, ensuring community feedback mechanisms are functional, and supporting evidence-based decision-making through regular monitoring and evaluation.
The PO will contribute to report writing, progress tracking, and knowledge sharing across the organization. The position requires regular coordination with the Project Coordinator/Executive Director and relevant personnel, while also performing any additional tasks assigned to support effective program implementation and continuous improvement.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Sciences, Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in program implementation, monitoring and evaluation, or project coordination within NGOs/INGOs or development projects.
3. Position: Veterinary Technician (Paid-Intern)

Job Summary
The Veterinary Technician Interns will support AHTCS in delivering essential animal health and welfare services across project areas. Working under the guidance of senior veterinarians and project staff, interns will assist in clinical care, health camps, vaccinations, deworming, and emergency case support. They will contribute to field data collection, documentation, and reporting of service activities.
Interns will engage with communities, farmers, and equine owners to promote good husbandry and welfare practices, while also participating in relevant trainings and capacity-building activities. This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in community-based animal health service delivery and helps interns strengthen their technical and professional skills.
Qualification and Experience
- Diploma in Animal Science/Veterinary science
