ISET-Nepal was established in 2001 as a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization to study and analyse developmental issues of rapidly changing social and environmental context that demand new insights into the emerging challenges to manage resources for sustainable development. ISET-Nepal is registered with the District Administration Office (CDO) and Social Welfare Council (SWC) of The Government of Nepal. It has dedicated its organizational focus to generate and disseminate knowledge on changing social and environmental context through research, publications and engagement in public debates to address the emerging challenges.

Request for proposals for mason training

ISET Nepal has been implementing Safer Cities Project since August 2018. The project aims to contribute towards building urban resilience of Kathmandu and Lalitpur metropolitan cities. The project contributes to understanding risk, risk governance, risk financing and preparedness for response (all four priority actions of Sendai Framework). One of the components of the project is related to infrastructure resilience where construction workers (masons) will be trained in safer construction practices.

ISET Nepal is looking for consulting firms to provide mason training to participants selected by ward offices of project wards.

Scope of work

  1. Adapt DUDBC curriculum in consultation with senior engineers of local governments
  2. Conduct one event of mason training in Patan (for 20-25 persons)
  3. Submit training completion report

Requirements

  1. The firm/consultant will have to follow DUDBC curriculum on mason training.
  2. The training has been scheduled on September 22-28, 2019 in Patan. The firm/consultants should be available to provide training on the scheduled date and location.
  3. The firm/consultants should have prior experience in delivering mason training in urban area.

Technical proposal

Interest firms/consultants are required to provide the following:

1. Company profile or a synopsis of relevant activities in the past

2. One page description of methodology

3. CVs of trainers (e.g. senior instructor, instructors, construction technicians)

4. A copy of company registration certificate or PAN number of individual consultants)

Stationeries, banner, food and travel allowance for participants will be provided by ISET Nepal. Construction materials for exercise will be procured by ISET Nepal based on recommendation from trainers. The venue will be arranged in partnership with local government.
