Backward Society Education (BASE) is a leading NGO officially registered in 1991 in Dang with DAO and SWC. BASE has been working in the field of WASH, education, governance, livelihood support, child labor elimination, women empowerment, income generation , conflict mitigation, environmental sustainability, disaster preparedness and response, infrastructure support  and protection and promotion of traditional  indigenous culture as well as increasingly working with beneficiaries from other marginalized communities.

BASE has been implementing Healthy Start - WASH in Healthcare Facilities project in Bardiya district with the financial support of GIORGIO ARMANI and technical support from WaterAid Nepal. BASE intends to recruit qualified and experienced Nepalese citizen for the following positions:

Project Coordinator – Health and Water Sanitation and Hygiene

Location: Bardiya district, Nepal

Salary: As per organization rule

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating project activities, resources, equipment and information
  • Liaising with local government, Health Facility Operation and Management committee and Health facility in charge to identify and define project requirements scope and objectives

Job brief

We are looking for a responsible Project Coordinator to administer and organize all types of projects, from simple activities to more complex plans.

Project Coordinator responsibilities include working closely with BASE ED and other staff as relevant to prepare comprehensive action plans, including resources, timeframes and budgets for projects. The Project coordinator will perform various coordinating tasks, like schedule and risk management, along with administrative duties, like maintaining project documentation and handling financial queries. To succeed in this role, S/He should have excellent time management and communication skills, as you’ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines.

Ultimately, the Project Coordinator’s duties are to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget and meet high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project management activities, resources, equipment and information
  • Break projects into doable actions and set timeframes
  • Liaise with District and municipal level government line agencies and stakeholders and WaterAid Nepal to identify and define requirements, scope and objectives
  • Assign tasks to internal teams and assist with schedule management
  • Help prepare detail budgets and realistic monthly phasing
  • Analyze risks and opportunities
  • Oversee project procurement management
  • Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise
  • Act as the point of contact and communicate project status to all participants
  • Work with the BASE’s ED to eliminate blockers
  • Use tools to monitor working hours, plans and expenditures
  • Issue all appropriate legal paperwork (e.g. contracts and terms of agreement)
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports
  • Ensure standards and requirements are met through conducting quality assurance tests
  • Take responsibility to lead overall management of project

Requirements

  • Has completed bachelor’s degree in public health or higher degree in health related subject suitable for this position.
  • Has overall more than  7 years working experience and at least 3 years in field of health and WASH
  • Proven work experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role
  • Experience in project management, from conception to delivery
  • Strong knowledge on healthy system and working experience with government structure
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word,  Powerpoint ,  Excel etc)
  • Fluent writing and speaking in English and Nepali
