Project information:

REducing Stigma among HealthcAre ProvidErs (RESHAPE) is a 5-year research project that aims to reduce mental health stigma among primary healthcare workers and improve quality of care through active involvement of mental health service users. The project is implemented by TPO Nepal with technical and financial support by the George Washington University. RESHAPE will be implemented in 24 municipalities of Gandaki Province.

 

TPO Nepal seeks competent, committed and result oriented candidates for the following positions:

 

Job Title                         :     Program Officer

Job station                     :     Parbat District

Job duration                  :     1 year with possibilities of extension

Major responsibilities 

The Program Officer will be responsible for following duties but not limited to:

  • Oversee implementation of the RESHAPE project in the selected program Municipalities in Parbat district.

  • Coordination with local government institution (Health office (HO), and other relevant stakeholders in the project district.

  • Conduct regular field visits to closely monitor field visit activities.

·         Coordination with local staff, field supervisors, and other project staff for their day to day activities.

  • Coordinate with Health office (HO), Municipalities, Village Municipalities and other relevant district municipality level stakeholders for effective implementation of the project.

·         Assure compliance with ethical practices and coordination with Nepal Health Research Council.

·         Provide support to project lead and Implementation Coordinator for the day-to-day implementation of the project.

·         Provide support (when required) for the training activities of field-based staff.

  • Work closely with Project lead/Implementation Coordinator to facilitate training and supervision of primary health care workers. 

  • Assist to organize training and supervisions of primary health care workers in the project areas.

·         Provide regular updates to project lead and implementation coordinator and other program staff.

·         Handling overall financial and administrative work of office/project area.

 

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

·         Minimum Bachelor's degree in public health, epidemiology, global health/global mental health, nursing, psychology, social work, or related fields. Master's degree is preferable.

·         Minimum two years of experience coordinating and implementing health research projects. 

·         Good proficiency in computer skills – especially office package.

·         Prior experience of project planning, design, and implementation.

·         Experience in data management and analysis will be an added benefit.

·         Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and typing in English and Nepali.

·         Willingness to travel in rural areas of.

·         Willingness to work in a multicultural environment. 

·         We give preference to those, who have driving license of motorbike or scooter.

Major responsibilities:

The Psychosocial Counselor will be responsible for following duties but not limited to:

·         Undertake assessments and provide counseling and referral services in the community.

·         Conduct community based psychosocial orientation and sensitization program.

·         Maintain case documentation.

·         Participate in weekly project coordination meetings and weekly peer supervision and support meetings.

·         Assist clinical supervisor to conduct training and supervision of Health Workers and FCHVs.

·         Reports to the Project lead and clinical supervisor.

·         Follow the inputs and additional responsibilities provided by clinical supervisor when it comes for strategic benefits to the project.

Qualification, Skills and Experience:

·         6 months training on psychosocial counseling from reputed institution.

·         Should have completed Plus 2 or equivalent with One-year of working experience as a psychosocial counselor. Bachelor degree is preferable.

·         Able to work in multi culture environment.

·         Able to travel in remote areas of districts.

·         Well knowledgeable on the Nepal health care delivery system.

·         Must be computer literate.

·         We give preference to those, who have driving license of motorbike or scooter.

·         Preference will be given to the local candidates so highly encourage local of Parbat and kaski districts to apply.
