One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is an International Non-governmental Organization that has been working in the area of maternal and child health for the past ten years. OHW has been in Nepal since 2010 supporting MOH to strengthen the district health system to improve maternal and neonatal health services across entire districts where it worked. We are implementing OHW's approach of Network of Safety for mothers and newborns in thirteen districts and is in the process of scaling in the newer districts in the coming years. OHW is seeking experienced and result-oriented Nepali professionals for the following Position.

Position: Program Director
Line management report to: Executive Director
Technical report to: Chief Operations Officer- OHW US
Supervision: Senior Program Coordinators, Training Coordinator, Communication & PR Officer, Program Officer – Innovation.
Duty station: One Heart Worldwide (OHW) Kathmandu
Purpose of the position:
Under the direct supervision of Executive Director, the Program Director (PD) is responsible to develop a strategic plan, provide comprehensive leadership to design, implement and strengthen the OHW's program - Network of Safety. Additionally, PD is responsible for coordination with different stakeholders including the government partners. This position will oversee the reporting to donors, governments. This position will also serve as SMT member.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set the vision and strategy with the OHW mission and Network of Safety model for a successful and high-impact program planning (long term and short term) and implementation for Nepal program in collaboration with Nepal team and COO.
- Help to develop a multi-year business plan and annual operational plans that are comprehensive, actionable, and inclusive.
- Work closely with the Executive Director to refine and develop services and programs, create written plans for all programs, develop systems to measure the performance of all programs, provide regular supervision of programs to assure their effectiveness and quality, provide periodic reporting on the outcome of all programs.
- Develop program budgets as needed for COO and Grants Manager (for grant writing).
- Attend official meetings to negotiate with the Ministry of Health and Population, Social Welfare Council, local partners and national and international agencies to develop implementation plans, develop a new program, negotiate contracts and memoranda of understandings etc.
- Work with local organizations, international organizations and government partners to develop and implement health policies, negotiate collaboration on programs, negotiate contributions materials and intellectual property to mutual programs.
- Work closely with OHW Nepal program staff members to ensure they are provided with appropriate support systems and responsive, quality service to support their efforts.
- Ensure that all program staff positions are appropriately filled. Mentor and/or train program staff to ensure that team members have the appropriate skill levels for their positions and opportunities for continued professional development.
- Overdevelopment, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of the OHW programs in Nepal.
- Work within with close collaboration with COO and Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, & Learning (DMERL) to oversee the M&E processes - data collection, management, analysis and publication - of OHW Nepal program results.
- Oversee volunteer placement and supervision for Nepal.
- Work with the Executive Director to organize the donor visits as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and policies regarding program-related activities.
- Establish and maintain an effective communication system with internal and external partners (donor agencies, US head office, Nepal Country Office, SWC, Ministry of Health and Population and other government counterparts, local and international NGOs).
- Provide all required information to COO and Grants Manager for grant reports, quarterly reports and annual report.
- Timely preparation and submission of programmatic and financial reports for various Government Departments such as the Social Welfare Council and the Department of Health Services.
- Work with external partners to ensure that intellectual property is maintained and that appropriate credit is duly given.
Job Specifications (minimum job requirements):
Academic qualification and work experience:
- A Masters’ degree in health care related field-preferred public health, medicine and nursing.
- A minimum of five years experience in a relevant upper management position
- A dynamic outgoing personality

- A good understanding of Nepal’s health care delivery systems and programs.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle a large workload
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
- Ability to work in a fast-changing multicultural environment
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally and in-country regularly.
- The workstation will be in Kathmandu with field visits as needed
- Participation in evening conference calls via Skype on a regular basis and working extended hours as needed
