Vacancy Announcement for Short-term Assignment for Photography

FHI 360 has been working in Nepal since 1993 in the areas of HIV/AIDS, family planning/reproductive health, nutrition, antimicrobial resistance, environment, capacity building, civil society and media strengthening, and governance reform. FHI 360’s work is grounded in evidence and aligns with and provides support to the Government of Nepal’s development priorities and plans. FHI 360 requests applications from the interested and qualified individuals to carry out short-term assignment for photography as follows: 

Photographer: 1 

The consultant photographer will support communication efforts of FHI 360 and its various projects by capturing high quality, compelling photography to provide visual interest, capture projects in action and create a human connection to program work and impact. The photographs will be utilized by FHI 360 and/or donors as print and web materials and social media posts as well as in reports, blog posts, photo stories, fact sheets, conference material (see fhi360.org for examples). A designated focal person will brief the consultant on the assignment details. The consultant will take the pictures after obtaining informed consent from people who will be photographed and submit documentation of consent with photographs. The consultant will be required to conduct field visits in the various provinces as required. The first assignment is planned for  August 29–31, 2022.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture high resolution photographs of human actions, activities, and landscape 
  • Submit edited high-resolution photographs with signed consent form of each human subject matter in the photo 

Qualifications

  • Experience photographing diverse themes in varying conditions and producing a variety of desirable images.
  • Experience operating professional digital photography equipment.
  • Cultural sensitivity, communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to work creatively in challenging conditions such as low light, limited space, in crowds etc.
  • Journalism or communications background desirable.
