Organizational Profile 

Southwestern Centre for Research and PhD Studies (PhD Centre) was established in 2010 as the endeavours of nationally and internationally recognized scholars, researchers, intellectuals and development experts with a commitment to reconstruct and transform society in Nepal. PhD Centre has been engaged in connecting researchers globally through joint research, conferences/workshops on burning issues, training, publishing journal articles, and networking/partnering with various universities, government and development agencies.

PhD Centre contributes to critical thinking to provide innovative solutions for individuals and organizations involved in development by teaching, learning, research and interventions with emerging ideas that dominate academia and policy discourse around the globe.

Position: Operation Manager (OM)- 1

Job Purpose: Responsible for maintaining high level organizational process, working quality, productivity and efficiency of the institution.

Position: Marketing Officer (Intern)- 2

Job Purpose: Support for Marketing and Publicity of the institution.

Major duties and responsibilities of the Operation Manager:

A. Office Administration

  • Prepare a periodic programmatic and financial plan and execute effectively to achieve the institutional target and goal.
  • Ensure for the best logistic support system in the institutions for regular and weekly, monthly and special events.
  • Ensure timely collection of the support cost from scholars and effective payment system of the institution i.e. party payment, supervisor payment, staff salary, telephone, IT online, computer and others.
  • Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations
  • Ensure for maintenance of office premises, security and logistic system and office equipment.
  • Ensure effective financial updates, timely periodical financial and program reports and conduct institutional audit
  • Provide inspired leadership for the operation management
  • Work with the board of directors to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.
  • Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company and build alliances and partnerships with other organizations

B. Marketing and Publicity

  • Prepare short and long term annual marketing plan to promote PhD Centre 
  • Responsible for publicity and visibility of the Southwestern Centre for Research and PhD Studies (PhD Centre) by carrying out an effective marketing and communications plan
  • Marketing Communications, ie. e-marketing, contribute to update website, social media and update Facebook.
  • Writing and producing marketing material (brochures, posters, flyers etc) for the PhD Centre liaising with the relevant academician, universities and research institutions
  • Develop tools and tips to prompt follow-up to concern universities, academic institutions and other institutions to meet the outlined goals of the Centre

C. Programmatic Research

  • Support to develop programmatic research, training and project proposals for government agencies, donors, INGOs, Universities and possible agencies
  • Develop institutional documents to meet the national and international standards for bidding and influence key stakeholders
  • Explore the possibilities going through individual, agencies, print and electronic media to participate in the biddings and joint collaboration
  • Develop various research plans, explore possibilities in the markets and efficient implementation to achieve institutional objectives

D. Academic Research

  • Institutional academic representation for the national and international forums to promote academic research
  • Support to developing required academic documents of the centre institutional development, create academic environment and promote marketing of the centre 
  • Counselling to the prospective and ongoing scholars to promote and seed up their research course
  • Support to ensure the progress of the scholar to meet the University schedule and research calendar of the centre
  • Responsible for the overall coordination in national and international organizations to organize training/seminars/conferences

E. Research Training 

  • Coordinate to national and international trainers/facilitators to organize various research and development trainings
  • Explore possible training agencies to link, network and joint collaboration within country and abroad as well

F. Qualifications and competencies

  • Master in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Experience in management, operation and leadership
  • Understanding of financial management
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among team, partnership and key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, coordination  and reporting skills
  • Institutional commitment and result oriented
