Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (Civic Forum) is one of the leading members based Nepalese non-governmental organization (NGO) based at the Kavrepalanchok district of Bagamati Province. It is a pioneer, an autonomous, non-profit making, non-racial and non-political, non-governmental organization established with the prime aim of contributing to environment friendly sustainable development. Civic Forum has been registered since March 16, 2004 (Registration Number 785/2060/61) in accordance with section 4 of Associations Registration Act, 1977 of Nepal in District Administration Office (DAO) Kavrepalanchok under Government of Nepal (GoN), Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and has also been affiliated to the Social Welfare Council (SWC) since March 26, 2004 under section 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992.

Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (Civic Forum), one of the leading member-based non-governmental organization (NGO) at Kavrepalanchok district is implementing the project “Foundations for the Future (FFTF)” in the schools of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality, Kavrepalanchok with the technical and financial support from WaterAid Nepal (WAN) from 1st July, 2022 to 30th June, 2024. Civic Forum intends to recruit qualified and experienced Nepalese citizens for the following position:

Position: WASH Engineer

Qualification and Experiences Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in sin Civil Engineering (B.E.) from recognized institution/University with at least 2 years of overall experience working with the NGO in the field of Disaster Risks Management and School WASH Construction based project.

Job Description (JD)

Job title: WASH Engineer 

Project: “Foundations for the Future (FFTF)”

Duty Station: Chaurideurali Rural Municipality, Kavrepalanchok

Immediate Supervisor: Project Coordinator (PC) 

Job Summary: 

Under the overall guidance of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the WASH Engineer shall shoulder the overall responsibility for Constructions. The WASH Engineer carries out tasks in accordance with the system and policies of Civic Forum organization and WaterAid Nepal. S/he shall follow the guidance of Project Coordinator and closely works with project team to fulfill the responsibilities.

  • Demonstrates commitment to the Civic Forum core values.
  • Displays cultural, gender, religious, ethnicity and age sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Work prioritization, the ability of multitasking and willingness to go the extra mile to accomplish what the job demands is a must.
  • He/she will be responsible for providing technical support to the field team to ensure all construction are according to project timeline. 

A. Key Role and Responsibilities: 

The major task of WASH Engineer is for overall design and implementation of Constructions Work in targeted locations of the project. Other duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

  • Mapping, Monitoring, valuation, design and estimation of the works by performing survey and feasibility Study in Schools as per need of project.
  • Prepare design of School WASH facilities on CGHD Principle by using AUTOCAD.
  • Provide Technical Support in the project activities.
  • Supervise the Construction work in the field and ensure they meet the project objectives in terms of quality of work and within agreed time.
  • Develop close coordination with Technical unit of rural municipality and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the appropriate mobilization of ASE and other Technical Staffs.
  • Orient and motivate ASE and Technical staffs as per requirement.
  • Ensure the sustainability aspects of infrastructure according to the project objectives.
  • Follow Safeguarding policy during Construction.
  • Ensure the safety of labours during Construction.
  • Maintain proper documentation of Construction work and progress.
  • Support project team to conduct Technical trainings, O&M trainings as per need.
  • Liaise with project coordinator and other relevant technical staffs on progression of Construction

Duration: 6 months starting from 15th February, 2023 to 16th August, 2023.

Salary and other benefits: Salary and other benefits will be provided according to the project and organization norms.
