Childaid Network Foundation is searching for a
Managing Director in Kathmandu
Childaid Network Foundation (CAN), a German-based charity foundation registered as an INGO in Nepal is seeking applications from qualified Nepali citizens for the position of Managing Director (at first Deputy Country Director) based at Kathmandu Office. The Deputy Country Director is envisioned to take over the Country Director role within one year.
Our office is located in an attractive area in Kathmandu and offers good working facilities. The Managing Director is a senior representative of the rapidly growing activities of Childaid Network in Nepal. In coordination with HQ and the local team, he/she plans and directs all aspects of CAN programs implemented by currently seven partners in four Districts, ensuring that the daily operations create an environment for young and motivated local teams to work smoothly and successfully. CAN Nepal is a dynamic and growing organization that has committed to improve the lives of Nepali children and youth through better education.
Who can apply?
▪ Master’s degree in a relevant technical field with applied background, ideally in the following sectors: education, child rights, vocational training, health
▪ Minimum 7 years of professional experience in development cooperation, ideally in German I/NGOs or with German institutional and private donors (BMZ, etc.)
▪ Minimum 3 years of management responsibility including supervisory role
▪ Familiarity with I/NGO operations, coordination structures, mandates of donors as well as other NGOs
▪ Excellent writing and communication skills in English and Nepali
▪ Willingness to a long-term commitment
Skills and qualifications
▪ An excellent command of methods and instruments of project management including administrative and financial implementation of projects
▪ Extensive experience and achievements in managing strong partnerships with local partner NGOs (MoUs, negotiations, governance…)
▪ Proven team management skills
▪ Excellent analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills
▪ Experience with networking, representation, advocacy, and coordination
▪ Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills
▪ Very strong commitment, motivation, and social skills
▪ Adherence to and identification with the values and principles of Childaid Network
▪ Working proficiency in MS Office Suite
Key responsibilities & accountabilities
▪ Overall management of the Nepal office including INGO budget development and monitoring
▪ Overseeing and managing the design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all programs and projects
▪ Oversee financial management of projects
▪ Staff management, mentorship, and development
▪ Representation of Childaid Network towards governmental and non-governmental institutions
▪ Strategic development of CAN in Nepal

About Childaid Network:
Childaid Network is a medium-sized, independent, and ideologically neutral foundation based in Germany supporting educational, health, vocational training, and child rights projects in presently four countries of South Asia - Nepal, Northeast India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. Our vision is, in cooperation with many like-minded people, to give needy children and young people a better future through education. The foundation is embedded in an extensive network and has been awarded and received several awards for the quality of its projects and the commitment of its team. Childaid Network focuses its work on promoting access to education for children and young people in South Asia who would otherwise be unable to attend school or receive vocational training. In Nepal Childaid currently works in Districts of Ramechhap, Dolakha, Sindhuli and Humla. In 2021, we directly supported around 100,000 young people in South Asia with access to good education and now invest around € 5 million annually in projects with over 30 qualified partners. In 2022, 150,000 young people will be reached in this way.
