Vacancy Announcement 

Rangjung Yeshe Institute (RYI) is an institution of higher learning in Boudhanath for those wishing to deepen their understanding of Buddhist philosophy and practice. RYI has been conducting seminars and study programs for more than 25 years. Since 2001, the Institute has worked in close partnership with Kathmandu University to manage the Kathmandu University Centre for Buddhist Studies at RYI which offers undergraduate and post-graduate degree courses in Buddhist Studies and related topics.

Position: Librarian Duration: 1 year (with possibility of extension)

Duty Station: Boudhanath, Kathmandu

Required Number: One

Reports to: Principal

Position Description: The Librarian is responsible to manage and run the RYI library to meet the needs of the Program Department and the students. This means helping order books, cataloguing the books in the library, helping students to find books, registering books that are taken out of the library and ensuring their return, and also ensuring faculty and students can access online resources. It is important to make faculty and students’ access to the resources, is easy and seamless and that the library is responsive and welcoming to users. The position is also responsible for working with the Principal and Program department to make sure there is a clear strategy for the library’s development which aligns with the direction of RYI.

Qualified candidates will require a Bachelors but Masters degree preferred, strong analytic skills, fluency in written and spoken English, computer and IT literacy, strong interest in books and strong interpersonal skills and customer relations.
