Lumanti Support Group for Shelter is a non-government organisation dedicated to the alleviation of urban poverty in Nepal through the improvement of shelter conditions. At Lumanti, shelter means the whole living environment, therefore, Lumanti's activities are wide-ranging. They include shelter upgrades, micro-finance, education and children's programmes, good governance, gender equity and advocacy. Lumanti means "memory" in the Newari language. The organization was established in 1993 in the memory of Ramesh Manandhar who died in a plane crash in 1992. Ramesh was a driving force behind moves in the early 1990's to raise awareness about urban poverty and shelter conditions.

Background

Lumanti Support Group for Shelter, a non-government organization actively contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of low-income people in Nepal through improved shelter, is currently seeking applications from qualified Nepalese citizens for the post of Junior Admin and Accounts Officer for Resilient Communities through Vulnerable Earthquake Recovery (ReCoVER)

ReCoVER is a CRS led multisectoral recovery project (Jan 2021 – Dec 2023 with possibility of extension) that will support 6,240 most vulnerable families affected by the 2015 earthquake. Using a targeted, tailored approach to reconstruction, ReCoVER will assist 4,000 vulnerable families in the earthquake affected districts of Nepal to build back safer homes. The project will support additional families with water supply and livelihood improvement activities to ensure that a total of 6,240 families, or 31,200 individuals, survive and thrive in their homes and communities. Lumanti Support Group for Shelter, as a consortium partner in ReCoVER, is implementing the shelter component across Kaski, Tanahun, Lamjung, Makawanpur and Chitwan.

Responsibilities 

  • Maintain financial records, documents and assistant in administrative tasks of related municipalities of assigned districts.
  • Release payment timely and update its status and process.
  • Make budget forecast periodically.
  • Ensure transactions are properly recorded, maintained and updated.
  • Monthly reconciliation of Bank statement. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual financial reports as required.
  • Assist in internal and external audit.
  • Maintain financial files and records.
  • Support the project teams, coordinate and communicate effectively for program implementation and maintaining proper financial management system. 
  • Support in procurement for both office supplies as well as materials required for MLT distribution.
  • Maintain the records of stocks
  • Provide logistics arrangements as required, coordinate with staffs and vendors for material distribution and transportation.
  • Collected information and documentation related to financial, administration, logistics
  • Coordinate with related staffs, internal auditor and compliance officer, procurement and logistics assistant and CRS staffs on related issues.
  • Additional responsibilities can be added as per the requirement.

  • Intermediate in relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience 
  • Gender sensitive
  • Ability to work in the team and have the team work spirit
  • Ability to work under pressure and ready to work long hours if required 
  • Keen interest and commitment to support for community led development processes.
  • Able to travel frequently in remote places as required.
  • Fluency in using office package
  • Priority will be given to candidates with license of two wheelers.

Travel: This position can expect up to 40% travel in the field. Travel includes trekking long distances to remote areas and staying in villages. Travel in the field will be required to coordinate with community/local stakeholders, monitor project activities, ensure feedback and response mechanism are communicated, understood and accessible, ensure protection and safeguarding in implementation.
