Hiring a consultant for 

SIYB Master Trainer

For Facilitating Entrepreneurship Development Training-Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) to Building Economic Resilience (BER) program staffs

Background

FOPA, an Arghakhanchi-based NGO established in 1998. FOPA  has  been  a  long  partner  with  Oxfam  and  possesses  experiences  of  delivering  programmes  with  EU, UNDP, AUSAID/NEAT, HAIFER INTERNATIONAL, government of Nepal etc Forum for People's Awareness is a national, non-profit making, non-political and secular organization. Its aims is to actively work for the rights and empowerment of backward community, indigenous, Dalit, Haliya, landless, men, women, children, in terms of socio-economic, political, and cultural rights.  Further, it works on promoting democracy, good governance, human rights long with non-formal education, natural resources protection, skill development and income generation activities. Along with these activities, it aims to bring about sustainable community development of the rural communities of Nepal through the implementation of community-based demand-driven programmes. Recently, the organization is implementing Building Economic Resilience (BER) program in partnership with the OXFAM Nepal in Arghakhachi district. FOPA has focused on fostering rural livelihood improvement through cooperatives.The Project is aimed at improving livelihood and economic opportunities of poor & vulnerable household. For the support of the program, the project has planned "Start & Improve Your Business" (SIYB) at Arghakhachi. Now FOPA is looking for qualified and experienced trainer for that purpose.

This training is being conducted to develop the capacity of the facilitators of project area on entrepreneurship Development. It is an entrepreneurship development course to equip the facilitators with the basic skills on entrepreneurship development. After this training, participants will be the SIYB local facilitator who can facilitate entrepreneurship development skills to producer and facilitate for product based business plan preparation to producer. This helps the producers to start and improve their business appropriate to their situation.

Required qualification and experiences:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 3 year of working experiences in NGO/INGO in rural areas and experience on SIYB trainer also knowledge and facilitation skills.

Objectives of the Assignment

  1. Conduct and facilitate the Start and Improve Your Business-SIYB Level 1 of International Labour Organization (ILO) to the training participants (staffs of BER partners)
  2. Submit the training report.

Scope of Services and Tasks and Activities to be completed

The overall scope of this consulting assignment is to hire a Master Trainer (Facilitator) to facilitate the ILO certified entrepreneurship development training called Start and Improve Your Business-SIYB. 

Activities will include, but may not be limited to, the following: 

  • Preparation for the sessions and submit the session plan to FOPA.
  • Facilitate the training program as lead facilitator.
  • Responsible for collection and preparation of training materials required for the training.
  • Submit the Training report to FOPA in Nepal within 9 days after completion of training.

Expected Deliverables

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  1. Conduct and facilitate the entrepreneurship training at producer level. 
  2. Able to prepare comprehensive business plan, costing of the multiple products.
  3. Motivate the producers for starting the enterprises and marketing of their product.
  4. Equip themselves with training and counseling skills to enhance their capabilities in supporting entrepreneurs at the local level.
  5. Training report from the facilitator.

Reporting Line Manager

The consultant shall work with the BER-Program coordinator of FOPA with guidance from BER Project coordinator of Oxfam, Jawalakhel.

Duration: Start date and completion date

The estimated input of the consultant is 9 days (1 day for training preparation 1 day for report writing including travel and 7 days for training delivery). The assignment is expected to start on 15 November 2018 and be finalised by no later than 24 November 2018.

  • 20% upon signing contract
  • The last instalment will be paid upon the submission of assignment as per this Terms of reference with full satisfaction evaluated by hiring manager

Confidentiality / Non disclosure

All material issued in connection with this ToR shall remain the property of FOPA and shall be used only for the purpose of this procurement exercise. All information provided shall be either returned to FOPA or securely destroyed by unsuccessful applicants at the conclusion of the procurement exercise.

During the performance of the assignment or at any time after expiry or termination of the Agreement, the Consultant shall not disclose to any person or otherwise make use of any confidential information which s/he has obtained or may in the course of this agreement relating to FOPA, the respondents or otherwise.

The consultant will be required to sign a non disclosure / confidentiality agreement as part of their undertaking of this work. 

Intellectual property, Copyright, and Ownership of all prepared information

The Consultant shall retain all rights to pre-existing (background) intellectual property or materials used by the Consultant in the delivery of this training. All arising intellectual property, ideas, materials, processes or processes formed in contemplation, course of, or as result of this training shall be passed to FOPA without restriction.

The Consult shall warrant that all arising Intellectual Property, materials and/or products produced in pursuit of this training shall be original, and shall not infringe on any third party’s claim. All technical or business information, in whatever medium or format, originated, collated or prepared by or for the Consultant in contemplation, course of, or as result of this assignment shall be transferred to FOPA without restriction on completion and shall not be used by the Consultant for any other purpose without express written permission of FOPA board

Copyright of all arising documents, data, information or reports produced by the Consultant under this agreement shall belong to FOPA and will be passed to FOPA without restriction. Such documents, data, information and reports shall not be used by the Consultant for any other purpose other than in conjunction with this assignment, without the express written permission of FOPA board.
