SAHAMATI(An Institution Dedicated For Community Plus Humane Development) SAHAMATI is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making, member-based social development organization established in 2001/11/12 (kartik 27, 2058) by a group of professionals and development workers with long experience in community development. This organization has been registered as an NGO under the organization registration act of Nepal. Global problems like climate change, poverty, social discrimination and migration influence Nepal's development process, demanding diversified answers. Underprivileged groups are often excluded while designing development program, unfortunate for them. SAHAMATI aims to make a change by addressing the huge challenges of the 21st century with a community-centered approach, focusing on social justice and social transformation, human rights development and self-help promotion. SAHAMATI has built a large network composed of diverse social groups, national and international organizations and like-minded institutions and have been launching various kinds of community-centered programs on collaboration. A range of internal programs have been developed and implemented independently through SAHAMATI under Theme 2 (Learning and Innovation) are coordinated through our own resources. SAHAMATI is a National level NGO established in 2001 by a group of development experts. We wok in economic & livelihoods, governance & advocacy, environment & disaster risk reduction and learning & innovation sectors as major thematic areas.
In partnership with Lutheran World Relief (LWR), SAHAMATI has been implementing Congregational Trans-boundary Flood resilience Project (a three year Project starting from 1 January 2019) in Narayani/Gandak River Basin for flood-affected households of trans-boundary communities in Nepal and India to have increased their resilience and therefore be less vulnerable to monsoonal flooding. Among others, communities have improved economic capitals through climate-smart and a flood-resilient livelihood is one of the major outcomes of the said project. To achieve this outcome, cooperatives are playing vital roles and acting as a local catalyst for disaster management. Project aims to deliver technical services to different cooperatives through diverse capacity strengthen schemes. To support this, we invite applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the following position.
Senior Social Mobilizer (Cooperative): One Position, based in Triveni, Nawalparasi
Qualifications: Minimum intermediate degree in any discipline having two-year of experiences in cooperative promotion and strengthening sector.
Essential requirements
- At least two year experience in social mobilization, preferably working in flood affected community.
- Knowledge of cooperative policy issues that the country has embarked.
- Knowledge in community, networking, coordination and advocacy.
- Skills to organize meeting and orientation with local user groups, CBOs and local community people.
- Having working knowledge in economic promotion of the vulnerable while strengthening capacity of cooperatives.
