Digital Broadcast Initiative Equal Access (DBI EA) is a nonprofit, non-government organization established in February 2004 in Nepal with a goal to create positive change by providing critical information using Communication for Development (C4D) approaches. DBI EA aims to accomplish this goal by using the media, state of the art information and communication technology (ICT), effective partnerships and local community engagement. Since its inception in 2004, DBI-EA has implemented projects on an array of thematic areas including media development, health, agriculture and livelihood, human rights and transitional justice, good governance, primary education and early childhood development, gender issues, adolescent issues, and local development among others. DBI-EA creates customized communication and outreach solutions to address the critical issues across Nepal. This is accomplished through close partnerships with community radios and local media, which ensures greater local ownership, impact and sustainability. The communication component includes designing, producing compelling multilingual audio and multimedia content and broadcasting through national and local FM networks. Outreach activities include a wide range of activities like training, orientation, local partnerships, local content, Radio Discussion Groups (RDGs), public hearing, discussion forum, and edutainment fair. All activities are guided by DBI EA’s experiences in Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC).

Details / requirements:

Digital Broadcast Initiative, Equal Access, an NGO organization working in the sector of Development Communication is seeking applications from dynamic, creative, and experienced Nepalese candidates for the position of Senior Program Manager based in Kathmandu.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage various projects with overview on programmatic content; effective management, implementation and planning of programs, ensuring cross linkages with program activities, develop overall framework of implementation plan;
  • Provide specific inputs and lead in the area of resource development, programmatic leadership and resource mobilization for the institution;
  • Responsible for management of subordinates; good documentation of project activities for submission to funders and collaborators and stakeholders; strengthen partnerships with key government partner and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualification

  • Master's degree in relevant field (/Mass Communication/ Journalism /Sociology and liberal studies will be given preference) with at least 3 years of relevant job experience.
  • Proven skills in Social and Behavior Change Communication, Social Media, Public Relation, Networking and Advocacy.
  • Thematic knowledge and proficiency in relation to various sectors of development areas of Nepal with a focus on issues affecting adolescent and youth. 
  • Should be a strong team player with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Proactive and ability to work with minimum supervision and be a team player
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali language (written and oral) and well versed in MS Office package as well as managing social media platforms for audience engagement and outreach.
  • Proven ability to present and communicate new projects to a varied audience, including young people. 
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as ensure knowledge transfer. 
  • Proven work experience with adolescent and youth, including training and mentoring activities. 
  • Willingness and committed to have maximum travel to the project's target districts as/when required
