Context: 

Under the direct supervision of the National Officer, Radiologist and the overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO), the incumbent will be responsible for technical support on X-ray taking, storing and dissemination services with respect to Migration Health Assessments (HAP) and other programmes implemented by the IOM Migration Health Division in country Kathmandu, Nepal. 

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  1. Carry out X-ray imaging of migrants as requested by the physicians or radiologist in accordance with IOM and international standards. 
  2. Perform proper processing of digitalizing of images on CR machine. 
  3. Ensure consistently  high quality CXRs through:
    1. checking and correcting technical quality of the images
    2. adherence to technical requirements of resettlement countries 
    3. close supervision and training of MHD staff, involved in CXR taking
  4. Optimize the workflow in the radiology unit in order to ensure quick and smooth processing and timely delivery of CXR images and reports. 
  5. Perform clerical duties, such as preparation of daily working lists, non-US reporting forms, barcodes, checking refugees’ identity, counselling of refugees, burning CXR images on CDs, uploading digital CXR images to eHealth website for Australian cases, prepare statistical reports and analysis of operational activities, and ensure proper record keeping.
  6. Liaise with the technical service providers inside and outside of IOM regarding maintenance and repair of the equipment. 
  7. Ensure regular and timely quality assurance of the CR and X-ray machines, and the reading of the personal radiation monitoring badge. Liaise with the respective authorities.
  8. Implement safety procedures in the radiology unit in accordance with the radiation protection rules and regulations. Implement infection control measures and ensure tidy and neat work environment. 
  9. Perform regular quality control of identification procedures and correctness of data entry.
  10. Suggest additional measures to improve the quality, speed or safety of the radiological procedures.
  11. Perform such other activities as requested by the supervisors.   

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Completed BSc in Radiography from an accredited academic institution with 3 years’ work experience on related field; 

Or

  • Completed High School Degree with 5 years’ work experience in related field.

Experience 

  • Experience in radiography, especially CXR, knowledge on CR machine is an advantage; 
  • Good computer skill is essential, especially in Microsoft Excel;
  • Effectively applies knowledge of health issues in execution of responsibilities at appropriate level;
  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work;
  • Willingness and ability to perform clerical activities in the X-ray unit is a strong requirement.

Languages

Fluency in English, Nepali is required.
