Association of Community Radio Broadcast Nepal (ACORAB), an umbrella organization of community radio stations, has been working for safeguarding rights and development of community radios in Nepal. ACORAB has the responsibility to sustain community radio movement for increasing people's access to information, stimulating democratic participation, protecting public interest, respecting human rights and promoting good governance. It was established in 2002 as a common forum for enhancing the capacity of Community Radios to enable them to contribute towards strengthening democracy, enhancing people’s participation in the ongoing transitional processes and supporting community-let development initiatives. ACORAB also plays the role of safeguard against the suppression of marginalized voice of the people and restriction of the freedom of expression of the Community Radios.

Association of Community Radio Broadcasters’ (ACORAB) Nepal is an umbrella organization of 325 community radios spread across 77 districts of Nepal. ACORAB Nepal is non-profit and non-partisan legal entity which values pluralistic and inclusive democracy, human rights including right to information and institutional secularity based on rule of law. ACORAB has been playing a vital role for community empowerment, information dissemination and awareness raising in different social issues.

ACORAB-Nepal is looking to recruit competent, energetic, committed and self-motivated candidate for Program Manager .

Position:Program Manager

Duty Station: Kathmandu with frequent field visits in the districts

Purpose: The main purpose of this position is to support Executive Director on project management, proposal writing, reporting, capacity development and fund raising.

Qualification: Masters’  degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Mass Communication and Journalism or other relevant discipline from a recognized institution

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of work experience (after completion of study ), preferably in a national or international development organization, media organization in a program operation  with sound technical and leadership skills.

Desired Skills and Knowledge: The candidate should have sound oral and written knowledge in English and Nepali language. S/He should have knowledge on community media and community radio with capacity building experiences of grass root level community media. S/he should possess pragmatic skill in communications, proposal writing, project management and reporting skill, research, budget holding, negotiations with stakeholders, campaigning and fund raising skill.

Responsibilities

  • Develop program proposals for promotion of community radio and community radio movement and capacity development of community radios.
  • Prepare program/project status reports required for management, board, donors, budget review, program analysis, etc.
  • Prepare different manual and procedural guidelines on project management and capacity development of the member radio stations.
  • Coordination and rapport building with key stakeholders, government bodies and member radio stations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other development and social justice networks, with key decision makers, and liaison with national level forum.
  • Provide supervision, training, capacity building support and guidance to the member radio stations.
  • Coordination preparation of detailed implementation plan - Prepare quarter, biannual and annual progress report of ACORAB.
  • Prepare the guideline and essential document for partnership with different organizations,
  • Take a special role for effectiveness of ACORAB activities and campaigns against different malpractices and harmful traditional practices.
