Geologist
Q.Y.E.C. Construction Pvt. Ltd. (QYEC Nepal), situated at Pulchowk-3, Lalitpur, is engaging in EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) for hydropower projects in Nepal. QYEC Nepal is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sichuan Qingyuan Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. (QYEC China) which was established in 1995 and is the only private design company holding Class A certificate in hydropower industry in China. QYEC China has been providing full-scope engineering and consulting services for hydroelectric and water conservancy projects with clients of public, government, and private sectors. QYEC China is the holder of qualification certificates of Engineering Survey and Design Certificate - Class A, Engineering Design - Class A, and Engineering Consulting - Class A, which are issued by Chinese government and institute. In the meanwhile, QYEC China is also certified for Power Transmission and Transformation design, Water Resources Argumentation compilation, Water and Soil Conservation compilation, Environmental Impact Assessment compilation, geological hazard reconnaissance, design, risk assessment, etc. Q.Y.E.C. China believes that hydropower development is a delicately balanced technical art, an optimal balance in technical efficiency, financial return, environmental protection and social well-being. With such belief, QYEC China has provided engineering services for more than a hundred hydropower projects, amounting to a total installed capacity over 10GW in past decades, among which, 40 commissioned and 5 under construction, with a capacity sum of 3.9 GW and 1.3GW respectively.

Job Title: Engineering geologist

Job Responsibilities:
General summary:
- determine the suitability of a site for construction development; identify and deal with geological factors; analyze sites and designs for environmentally-sensitive developments, such as landfill sites; ensure that structures can be secure in the short and long term.
Job tasks
- consult geological maps and aerial photographs to advise on site selection
- assist with the design of built structures, using specialized computer software or calculations
- collate data and produce reports
- oversee the progress of specific contracts
- plan detailed field investigations by drilling and analyzing samples of deposits/bedrock
- supervise site and ground investigations
- advise on and test a range of construction materials, for example sand, gravel, bricks and clay
- make recommendations on the proposed use of a site and provide information
- Collaborating with project managers, other engineers and team members.
Qualifications/ Experience/ Skills
- Language: fluent in English and Nepalese – both spoken and written
- Education: M.sc/B.sc geology, geography, geophysics/geotechnology, or related Engineering degree
- Experience: 3+ years of related work experience involving both on-the-job experience
- Skills: Great technical ability to design mappings of geological data, and comprehensive inerpretation of collected site geological information and regional / engineering geology; skilled in gecotechnical analysis using professional softwares; Comply strictly with safety codes, standards and procedures; sound knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering geology, soils mechanics, and grading techniques; Ability to write accurate reports on data collection and analysis; Communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable to work in various environmental conditions outdoors
- License of professional engineer is preferred
