One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is an International Non-Governmental Organization that has been working in the area of Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) since 2011. OHW works with local communities and local health service providers to develop a culturally appropriate Network of Safety around mothers and infants, by raising awareness, teaching good practices, and distributing essential equipment to ensure that mothers and infants survive delivery and the first months of life.

One Heart Worldwide (OHW) is seeking to hire a new Executive Director (ED) for our Nepal Office. We are looking for a dynamic professional to improve our fundraising reach and help us take our programs to scale in Nepal.OHW is a registered nongovernmental international organization with over 20 years of experience implementing maternal and neonatal mortality prevention programs in remote rural areas of the world. We started implementing our programs in Nepal in 2010. The mission of our organization is to save the lives of mothers and newborns worldwide. Our vision is to improve access to, and utilization of healthcare services to reduce the risk of maternal and neonatal mortality in the most remote, rural areas. We believe that all women and newborns should receive the quality healthcare services they deserve during pregnancy and childbirth, anytime and anyplace.

Position: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Duty Station: Nepal Country office in Kathmandu (frequent travels required)

Reports to : Reports to : CEO and COO –OHW US Office

Fundraising/Development and communications:

  • Identify and reach out to new funders to increase and diversify the organization’s sources of funding
  • Maintain consistent communications with new and existing donors through phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings (frequent overseas travel required)
  • Host and lead donor visits to Nepal. Provide oversight to program team organizing itineraries and travel arrangements
  • Represent OHW at strategic meetings, conferences and other public events and contribute toward raising the profile of OHW through speaking engagements and presentations
  • Represent the OHW Nepal office and be responsible for the management of host country relations and OHW interests in dealing with the government, other international and local organizations, and external forums including networks and media

Leadership and Organizational Management:

  • Lead the strategic development of the Nepal program under the guidance of COO and CEO. Shape and guide the organization's overall strategy in Nepal
  • Oversee, facilitate and lead the process of effective planning and implementation of the country strategic plan
  • Work with the COO and Nepal SMT to develop current and long-term organizational goals and objectives
  • Work with COO and Program Director to refine and develop services and programs, and create written yearly plans and targets for all programs.
  • Work with COO and MEL Team Leader to develop and maintain systems to measure the performance of all programs, provide regular supervision of programs to assure their effectiveness and quality, provide periodic reporting on the outcome of all programs.
  • Lead in the development of the OHW Nepal program by providing sound methodological and technical support to ensure that appropriate program approaches are maintained.
  • Directly supervise the Program Director, Administrative Director and MEL Team Leader
  • Ensure that all staff positions are appropriately filled
  • Oversee the financial status and trends of the organization (including audits).
  • Ensure that the Nepal team provides appropriate programmatic and budgetary oversight of Nepal programs as well as appropriate reporting (financial and programmatic) of program activities to the US team and donors.
  • Ensure the yearly plans, targets and budgets are provided to the US team in a timely fashion

Partnerships Management:

  • Work with external partners to negotiate terms of any external contribution to our programs
  • Work with international organizations and the Ministry of Health and Population and other collaborators to facilitate the development of new governmental health policies, negotiate collaboration on programs, negotiate contributions materials and intellectual property to mutual programs
  • Work with external partners (Government, bilateral and multilateral, local INGOs/NGOs) to ensure that intellectual property is maintained and that appropriate credit is duly given
  • Oversee the establishment of all contracts and MOU with government and partner organizations

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Nepali citizenship
  • A Masters’ degree in health care related field
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a relevant upper management position
  • A dynamic outgoing personality
  • Ability to handle donor relationships and represent the organization in national and international communities
  • A good understanding of Nepal’s health care delivery systems and programs
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle a large workload
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-changing multicultural environment
  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally and in-country regularly
