Forum for Rural Development (FORD) Nepal is Non-Government Organization (NGO) established in 2056 B.S. Since the beginning, the organization has implemented different projects primarily focused on community development and social transformation to bring positive and sustained changes in the lives of poor and vulnerable citizens. FORD Nepal has focused on fostering rural livelihood improvement through organizing people and developing inclusive leadership. Recently, the organization is implementing Okhaldhunga Recovery and Resilience Program (ORRP) in partnership with the Catholic Relief Service (CRS Nepal) at Likhu and Champadevi rural municipality of (former Singhadevi, Raniban and Phulbari VDCs of Okhaldhunga) to reconstruct community infrastructure and restore the livelihoods. Under ORR program, FORD Nepal is implementing Livelihood, Shelter and Restoration program. For successful implementation of the ORRP in rural areas, FORD Nepal is looking for qualified and experienced following positions. 

Job Title: Cash for work Assistant (CFW Assistant)

No of positions: 1

Job Location:  Champadevi and Likhu Rural Municipality 

Length of Contract:  Initial 1 year with possibility of high extension

Reporting to:  Livelihood Officer 

Required qualification and knowledge

  • Minimum I Sc. in agriculture with 1 year work experiences or agriculture JT with 2 year work experiences  or agriculture JTA with 3 years work experience in rural areas and able to drive two-wheeler
  • Previous experience in supervising cash for work schemes highly preferable
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
  • Very good computer skills (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Nepali is necessary.
  • A strong commitment to social mobilization and Human Rights is essential along with ability to represent at various levels 
  • Highly motivated, flexible, capable of working both independently and as part of a team

Area of responsibilities: 

  • Support the Livelihoods Officer in planning and implementing cash for work activities, to ensure that they are completed within the given timeline and achieved the intended targets;
  • Under the guidance of the Livelihoods Officer, consult with municipality leaders and community members, Manager for the identification of needed and viable Cash for Work initiatives;
  • Support CRC and Community members in scheme identification and prioritization. Ensure the vulnerable group active participation in planning, implementation and decision making process of scheme selection.
  • Assist Project Engineer in the technical feasibility study of prioritized scheme.
  • Support CRC in the work plan development and facilitate to submit it to Livelihood Officer.
  • Ensuring maintenance plan in the scheme work plan
  • Help in the identification and selection of Cash-for-Work beneficiaries;
  • Supervise and follow Cash-for-Work schemes as per activity guidelines;
  • Maintain Cash for Work records, attendance sheets and cash for work agreements, as per activity guidelines;
  • Receive Cash-for-Work supplies together with the Logistic Assistant, and make sure they match Program needs ;
  • Prepare plans for the assignation of Cash-for-Work supplies and – if necessary – the storage in warehouse in coordination with the Logistic Assistant;
  • Ensure that the supplies are placed appropriately and used properly by community members;
  • Ensure that Cash-for-Work, tools and equipment are in working condition and available on site during the entire duration of the intervention;
  • Ensure that the weekly/monthly work plan is respected on the field;
  • Draft and prepare monthly reports;
  • Ensure regular coordination with all stakeholders at the community level;
  • Liaise with the Livelihoods officer, Logistics and Finance officers and Program Manager regarding financial projections, procurement, payments and necessary documentation;
  • Assist weekly/monthly coordination meetings together with the other members of the Livelihoods Team as requested by the Livelihood officer;
  • Report issues and constraints arising from project implementation;
  • Identify areas for possible activities improvement;
